Cricket world cup discussion thread

Yes.... "I support Pakistan, India or Sri Lanka to win..." why not add England and New Zealand, then he cannot fail to predict a winner.

Yup he may as well but i am gonna go for sri lanka but i am hoping the under dog can pull through and win it. Not talking about england here because they have no chance but perhaps NZ could shock the world :D

It would be nice if none of jk's 8 teams could win it :D i mean unless nz in on his list which would make sense, you know cover ALL bases :D.

Ummm you support SA right? Who was caught for match fixing?

Do you think all these implodes are just normal? I am seriously considering the notion that we are still fixing matches because i cannot find another excuse for some of our losses.

Well, you can cheer England for their SA players, India for their SA coach and bowling coach or New Zealand for their SA bowling coach. Anyone else suddenly predicting a Pakistan - Sri Lanka final?

In 19yrs of playing international cricket, we've played 13 tournaments with zero trophies, zero finals, and zero wins in world cup knockout matches. Kinda sad.

1998 ICC Champions Trophy. ;) Google it.

Its actaully ironic that we were calling Quattro a troll but he was right all along.
Be that as it may,the Proteas will have to now fully acknowledge and embrace the fact that they are indeed chokers to the point that they become self deprecating about it.
0nly then can they move on.Being in denial only adds to the suffering.

Thank you.

I've always had a rank system with the sub continent teams I support.
Pakis
SL
India
Supporting the Pakis is always risky, you need to have a secondary team :p

I'll be rooting for SL now. Wouldn't mind NZ too much but they will probably lose their next match with 10 wickets...

I've lost all interest now, hell I'm disappointed as I'm sure all Saffers are now. In my naivety I honestly believed this was the year....

I would really like CSA to throw out old stock and be a lot more stern with the Proteas.
Throw out management and all the parasites!

What's your opinion on that? Or will you continue to baby them?

Oh well, im sorry we did not go further. Bring the boys back home so they can watch the final around a braai with a Castle in their hands....

GO INDIA!!!! :)

For me the solution has always been quite simple. Ray Jennings. He is the magic silver bullet we so desperately need. Unfortunately we look to CSA for solutions when many believe they are the problem... The fish goes off from the head down..

I think we need to pick ourselves up and salvage what's left of the tournament. It's no use crying over spilled milk.Let's leave SA for now and enjoy the spectacle.

Agree.Smith will now be humbled by the fact that he is no longer the 'captain who leads from the front, except in the WC.'Corrie will have to go as well.
Its funny that people are calling for Boucher's return when he,along with Kallis and Smith were considered to be part of the old 'think tank' that needed to be chucked out of the ODI setup.

Most of the problems in SA cricket can probably traced back to the CSA's management. One need not look much further than Gerald Majola. There are too many allegations of corruption and skullduggery... and his team supports him. The union & management appear to loosely follow example set by our government. So for me they need to clean house... a complete overhaul! But that's just the start.

It's also not the sole source of our problems. We have a golden opportunity to get a good coach. No disrespect to Corrie (he did an adequate job in hits limited time). Good coaches are hard to find, especially the likes of Jennings. Regretfully I think he's too radical, too hard hitting, too blunt. Huge pity!

Mike Hoxbig early suggested a clean out of players, keep a core if young guns, bring in some fresh faces and build a team with long term goals ... not too current to Jake White with building the Boks for 2007. It's not a bad idea.

Anyways, the loss still hurts. Not just because we lost, but the way in which we lost. Because it looks like we choked. Credit though to the Black Caps. Not the best team on paper, but they never gave up.all the best too them.

Actually, I think you hit the nail on the head. Get rid of the entire lot, from management, right to players. Begin afresh.

Not EVERYONE.Poor Tahir just started.

Yeah, OK, he maybe doesn't deserve the choking tag just yet. I like the way Tahir celebrates every wicket he takes like it's the only wicket he has ever taken. Like he's showing true passion for taking the wicket for SA. I think the other guys became to blase about it.
