All in all a decent outing for the SA XI!!!

Good to see AB and JP bringing it home with 7 overs to spare despite the early loses of 2 of the worlds greatest batsman!! Our top order is truly magnificent!!!

I do worry though, had Smith been run out we would have been 43/3. Would it have made a difference? In this game probably not but there's going to come a time when we chasing 300, maybe in a quarter final or semi final and we going to find ourselves 40/3 and inevitably counting on the likes of Botha and Pieterson at 7 or 8 down in a situation where we'll need 100 off 60 odd to win and we won't have the fire power at that stage of the innings to bring it home...

Hope not but I think it's inevitable...

We missing a big banger at the tail end of the innings, no doubt..

Have you seen what Faf does for the Titans ?

That okie can hit a long ball.

Excellent start by the boys, WI could have been a hiccup...it was a comfortable win.

Well in boys :D over the moon.

Great work by the bowlers and it was an excellent fielding performance.

Our top order failed, I doubt we going to say that often in this WC, but AB was magnificent. He came in under immense pressure and handled it perfecty.

Special mention to Tahir, on his ODI debut in SA's opening WC match, I thought he was brilliant. He came back well in his second spell. he just needs to work on not running on the wicket.

All in All, Brilliant and well in :D

Well played guys. AB you rock.

Good game. Clinical in the end. Darren Bravo could have taken the game from us in the Windies batting innings. Good to see the disciplined bowling and it was a genuine team effort in the field.

Good to see Tahir get his debut. I wonder if he'll be given a run in the 5 day game? If he is the wicket taking type, I think Harris may have played his last game.

Nice to see the batting hold up despite Alma and Kallis not getting runs today. I might have been tempted to give Tahir the man of match award, but AB was good with bat today. Keeps wicket for 48 overs and then bats another 40 or so.

Early game between Australia and New Zealand.

Australia won the toss and chose to field.

Teams:

Australia - SR Watson, BJ Haddin†, RT Ponting*, MJ Clarke, DJ Hussey, CL White, SPD Smith, MG Johnson, JJ Krejza, B Lee, SW Tait

CricInfo also reporting that this game is part of their Chappell-Hadlee trophy :wtf: ... sure choose a fine time to stage it.

McCullum out. In comes Ryder.

*silent prayer for Ryder uttered, needs points for Fantasy IX*
