A bit risky going in with just one specialist paceman. I think the balance of our team is actually just fine the way it is. The only changes that should be contemplated is a paceman for a paceman (Morkel/Lopsy) or a batsman for a batsman (Faf/Ingram). van Wyk is a better keeper than AB, as long as he doesn't doze off

I tend to agree. Just feel that the spinners have been doing a job. Difficult to leave out Peterson, tahir and Botha based on current form so once AB and tahir are fit who do we leave out?

Van Wyk has actually been very sharp behind the stumps with the exception of india so it makes sense to retain him with AB in the field where he is happier and more effective.

How about going back to the same team before they got injured? Tahir in for Botha, and AB in for either Ingram or Faf.

I do actually think that AB adds more value in the field. The other guys are good, but we need someone on a similar level to Rhodes and Gibbs.

We can do it with home grown talent dammit!!!!!!! Drop van vyk rather but how can you drop botha? Bowled well and batted well. Can tahir bat?

At the moment we bat right down, even good old steyn can bat. Awesome attack, full batting line up vs a good spinner who possibly cannot bat for shyte? I am assuming he is not good at batting .

Tahir has 12 wickets and robin peterson 14. That's our two leading wicket takers in the tournament. Botha only has 4 wickets in the tournament , there is no way I would leave tahir out. Tahir also has the better economy rate 3.96 compared to botha 4.30.

Considering our success with ball I'm inclined to got for an extra batter.

But that then means no Morkel or Lopsy and a very spin heavy bowling attack but on these flat docile decks why not?? Why does the new ball partnership have to be an all out pace attack?? The new cherry just flys further on the sub continent pitches so think outside the box. Peterson and Steyn would be my new ball attack!! 1st bowling change, Kallis and Tahir followed by Botha and JP!!! Between the 6 of them I think we would be quite effective and if they not we bat deep to chase whatever score the opposition post...

You need morkel/lopsy for the powerplay overs.

Mostly agree with your side but for me no botha and morkel plays.

Oh boy I'd hate to be a selector right now as there seems to be valid arguement for everyone except Parnell to be in the team.
On the face of it I think Botha can do an equally good job with the bat as Van Wyk if not better, plus he can keep the runs down.So that might be a fair swop.Van Wyk's inconsistensy with the bat and behind the stumps might come back to haunt him so it looks like AB might don the gloves next time around.

Your bowling attack with their 100% removal of batsmen still has huge flaws.

I prefer ab in the field, he can save 10-20 runs easily. Not to mention catch some epic jonty type catches

You don't put your best fielder as wicket keeper although it will conserve his energy i guess.

Yup but he is arguably he is one of the greatest spinners in my generation. Only warne is considered better. Sri lanka are fairly easy, get past muri and you in business because they are a batter short.

The balance is the best i have ever seen, we bat all the way down at the moment. We have no tail, our tail are match winners.

Whoever they pick can do the job which is awesome!!!!!!!
