Crime Website Offline

I have a website dedicated to the victims of crime and hve received numerous threats, etc. Someone is also trying to steal my domain. I have received a couple of uniforum ticket emails with domain update requests. It goes beyond me though because I certainly am not trying to scare anyone away from South Africa.

monty have you looked deeper into where these threats and domain changes are coming from? Might be interesting...

this is all very interesting...
why dont the guys just host the site overseas?

mine is hosted overseas, but all coza domains are handled by uniforum, which is a trully horrible registrar

@icyrus:

emails apparently originated from hotmail and webmail addresses, so investigations went to a dead end there.

at least we are p!ssing of the right ppl

when someone steals ur domain, cant you sue, the registar company?

Our only source of "what's really happening in SA" is gone. :(

That website is a really good idea to inform people of the crime problem in south africa, but instead of helping people it will probably be quite harmfull to more poeple because it may divert any possible income away from them from possible tourists to SA. Its a good idea to protect foreigners but wat about protecting the tourist trade in sa. Im for the website but im more for the tourism industry in SA.

Luckily not, we still have MyADSL News & Current Affairs to tell whats really happening in South Africa.

Like that 7yo girl that died on the N4 here in PTA in a accident cause people put stuff on the highway so they can rob the crashed/broken/damaged cars. The next car that came along found 20 to 30 people (I'm sure they were black) clambering over the car stealing what they could, ignoring the injured people.

Or the 2 criminals that got shot by 2 average citizens near the Kolonade shopping after robbing a person deposting money at the bank. 2 guys followed them and tried to stop them, one was armed and shot at the criminals when they tried to get the other guys car and kileld one, then that guy took the dead criminals gun and shot the other criminal (seriously injured now, i wish he died).

The website is not only irresponsible it does nothing to help solve the crime problem in the country

I do not for one minute say that there is no crime in South Africa or that it is a problem

the website is anecdotal at best, a warped perception of reality at worst.

Anecdotes or victim stories, more than other stories, are usually exaggerated, due to the emotional state at the time

many of you believe the crime rate has increased dramatically, let me share with you what has happened according to my perception

crime has not increased, it just affects other parts of the population, b4 94 the police only had to ensure that white suburbs are protected, leaving an entire police service to protect a minority of the population, criminals then targetted as they always do the soft targets, those who were not protected

with the comming of democracy, the police have to protect the entire population, and the predominantly white areas with less security and more wealth became the targets

As more and more black people have been moving into previous white suburbs, the crime levels have remained the same, indicating that crime affects areas where there is wealth more ( race is not an issue to a thief your value is )

My home ( not in a white suburb ) was burgled over 5 times before 1994, it has never been burgled since - why don't you check out these types of statistics before purpoting to give people a true depiction of the situation in South Africa.

The website only serves to keep tourists and their money away from South Africa, money which would have reduced criminals, but crime that will now affect you and your rich friends and family

THINK BEFORE YOU ACT
