The website is not only irresponsible it does nothing to help solve the crime problem in the country

I do not for one minute say that there is no crime in South Africa or that it is a problem

Anecdotal? I haven't looked at the site - but whatever it says - it tells stories prompted by a perception of the (local) world - and - anybody who pays any attention would call any perception of the reality of crime in SA warped at best - it is strictly padded room stuff at worst - and anybody who thinks any different ('a warped perception of reality at worst') - lacks some form of empathy -.
Anecdotes or victim stories, more than other stories, are usually exaggerated, due to the emotional state at the time
Uum excuse me - but you seem to be looking for excuses for the horrific crimes that are happening to children, woman and men in this country. Do you not pay attention - for instance to the fact that the majority of police officers need psychological counselling for the horrors they see daily. "Usually exaggerated??"

Well - according to the above your perception is pretty warped.
crime has not increased, it just affects other parts of the population, b4 94 the police only had to ensure that white suburbs are protected, leaving an entire police service to protect a minority of the population, criminals then targetted as they always do the soft targets, those who were not protected
Uum excuse me - we lived in a police state - where shebeens were illegal - where (to all intents) the 'black' population was watched like a hawk... There was some respect for the law. And the death penalty was in effect. I really think you need to think some things through.
with the comming of democracy, the police have to protect the entire population, and the predominantly white areas with less security and more wealth became the targets
Uum ever consider hiring more police - especially with their high mortality rate - Uum - perhaps exaggerated???!!! And just to burst your bubble - ever hear of the Group Areas Act?
As more and more black people have been moving into previous white suburbs, the crime levels have remained the same, indicating that crime affects areas where there is wealth more ( race is not an issue to a thief your value is )
So - in the bad old days the thieves were targeting the poorest people (as I would think they are still the majority target today - crims don't like catching trains and busses/taxis.) So - taking the Group Areas Act into account - and the most highly patrolled areas (ie the black, coloured areas - due to political unrest) - then - there has been an exponential rise in crime - including horrific murders and rapes (more germane than a simple issue of wealth - when in fact the greatest victims always are the poorer people.)
My home ( not in a white suburb ) was burgled over 5 times before 1994, it has never been burgled since - why don't you check out these types of statistics before purpoting to give people a true depiction of the situation in South Africa.
And there you have it - crims have become more mobile.
The website only serves to keep tourists and their money away from South Africa, money which would have reduced criminals, but crime that will now affect you and your rich friends and family
A sad indictment of the thought process in this post.

Actually I would have thought a government fighting an internal war would have been fairly up on what was happening in the country. In a country with "security" as its middle name you would think they would live up to that reputation. Stats were collected then as they are now - and thankfully the press have always been vigilant in this country - then as now. There may well have collection issues, then as now - but in a state concerned with security on all ends of the spectrum - they were likely paying far more attention than anybody in power seems to be now.

Who cares about anybody changing figures - all I have to do is look at the front page of a newspaper.
That is how we managed to get the proper figures of how many people were slaughtered by the Apartheid regieme to the International media, despite what their official reports said

The figures for 1996 are particularly interesting. This was the last year when the Dept. of Home Affairs published a survey on causes of unnatural death. The police recorded 25 782 murders, but reported only 2 861 firearm deaths to the Department of Home Affairs. However, the Institute for Security Studies, using police data, estima-ted at least 10 000 firearm deaths. Adam Cohen therefore asks: "Why are more than 7000 shooting victims… missing from the Home Affairs survey? Why were 17 289 murders not reported to Home Affairs as such?" - The Department of Home Affairs showed that in 1996 altogether 61 303 persons had died of unnatural causes. Of these 48 078 had perished in 'unspecified events of undetermined intent'. Cohen concludes: "The bulk of those victims of 'unspecified events of undetermined intent' can reasonably be inferred to have been murdered."

Little clip on the news earlier about setting up a victims compensation fund - Human Rights Commission reckons - for victims of violent crime - a fund would have to compensate 300 000 to 400 000 claims a year.

I've decided to register here because I can't believe the liberal White guilt apologist propaganda I've seen right here in this very thread (amongst others). There is absolutely no way apartheid could be blamed on anything going on post apartheid in South Africa. I would like to know where people are getting their liberal dribble from because it baffles my mind to see such lies. All Whites in South Africa, both Afrikaners-Boers and English Whites need to unite together instead of blaming themselves over stupid bull**** while they are being slaughtered and driven out of the country, a country that is clearly theirs, a country that was founded, built and made a first world nation by them and no one else, a nation that has degenerated into crap, just like that blog says, a “rainbow” nation of crap. No one has even mentioned (in this thread) the farm murders, which target Whites, and has murdered over 2,000 of them in the most savage brutal ways, you wouldn’t even kill an animal how these people are killed and it is never mentioned, never, the liberal press never even mentions anything about all the horrible stuff that is going on in South Africa. The Iraq War and all the other Middle East turmoil… Ha! There are more people killed in South Africa daily than any of those places, God forbid talk about the savagery under Black rule.
Anyway I think White South Africans need to stop bickering and have each other’s backs because it is obvious the international world could care less about you. Hell, a great deal of the youth today are brought up with propaganda on how you’re all guilty and stole South Africa from the Blacks and other ludicrous Marxist garbage. I honestly believe the Whites South Africans need to secure their future in their own independent homeland like the Freedom Front Plus has suggested, or something similar (I think other people have talked about similar ideas from Dan Roodt to Dr. Lets Pretorius sp?). Don’t believe in the lies the ANC tells you as well. Oh well I’m done ranting, any liberal who wants to debate, bring it on.
