In other reports, Russia only withdrawn ~20 000 troops, leaving ~40 000 within the border zones and with ~25 000 on the ready near inland should they need to bolster in regard with contingency.

What is interesting now is that Kiev is stating Russian troop pull backs and that NATO stated the situation as unchanged.

Then on a more serious note, NATO may possibly place permanent military basis in the Baltic countries, breaking Russia/NATO agreements that they entered in the 1990’s, keeping NATO troops in countries bordering with Russia. Tensions may implode soon, only hoping that it may not involve any military actions.

Well, Russia broke all agreements regarding Crimea.

They have 8% of the seats in Parliament. Hardly fair to call them the EU and NATO's bedfellows. They don't make policy and they don't represent the whole Ukraine.

Interestingly enough, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation is the 2nd biggest party in Russia, occupying 20% of the seats in their legislature.

They already broke that agreement, which is why Russia is acting this way.

Except me making a horrible spelling error, which Russia neighbouring countries are housing permanent NATO bases?

Poland and Romania only now made themselves available to assist NATO with this matter, including the possibility to establish permanent NATO bases.

NATO also made it clear not to protect Ukraine due to them not being a NATO member, it is also not yet clear should the Ukrainians had agreed to approved NATO exercises in its territory, NATO only stated more support to eastern European countries.

NATO could break promise to Russia

On Tuesday, Kerry will join other NATO foreign ministers in Brussels where the alliance will confirm the suspension of cooperation with Moscow. The West views the annexation of Crimea as "illegal and illegitimate".

NATO has not ruled out the possibility of placing permanent military bases in the Baltic countries. This would break a promise made to Russia in the 1990s that NATO would keep permanent troops out of new member countries that border Russia.

"It is clear that Russia has not played by the rules, has not been consistent with our partnership... so we can review our own rules," Douglas Lute, the US ambassador to NATO, said on Monday.

A $1-billion-plus US aid package to Ukraine, which also imposes sanctions on Russia, is expected to clear Congress on Tuesday and be signed off by US President Barack Obama.

Ukraine wanting to join NATO obviously isnt the same as NATO trying to extend west (i dont think they actually do want to btw). As things stand, i dont see any signs that Ukraine will join NATO.

Yep, I understand. I am neutral on this matter as I do not generalise and condemn civilisations, actions on the other hand should be analysed and corrected to a certain extend. What really bother me is that we have in actual 5 parties here which is Russia, Crimea, Ukraine, NATO and the USA, it seems to me that every party is each on their own tone even though USA is with NATO. The media statements made by each country representatives don't line up with each other...

Yeah, ive also noticed that, its inevitable that they will each have their own ideas and agendas though.
