Also, unless the Spanish promote themselves a bit more... the Top 4 will outstrip all the current heavyweights by a mile in around 10 years or so...

Funny then that the biggest football transfers in history come from La liga and its the only league to win both uefa and champs league in the same year.Also the first country to have to teams from the same league in the champs final.

United produced the Beckham, Butt, Neville brothers, Scholes... but as of late there hasn't been much talk in the youth team... I am excited to see Foster in more first team action tho

Maybe in spain they care about the uefa cup but I can tell you most fans and clubs in Italy don't care about it any more. It used to matter in the early 1990's but since 4 italian,spanish and english clubs got cl places nobody cares about the uefa cup any more.
The 6+5 rule is idiotic. I truelly hope it never comes to light. It may help us against the english clubs but I would rather beat them by improving and becoming better rather than the rules helping us.
Besides it will be a huge mess. what happens to the players with dual nationality do they qualify as the 6 or what?? Also what about scottish players in england are they part of the 6 or not since scotland and england are part of Great Britain but they are separate in football.

All other bollocks being spouted here aside, I am in favour of 6+5. Can't really see how the top four are ever going to be broken otherwise.

Reasons do not matter. If being the voice of reason because your team is called "International" - then so be it!
Must say I would prefer more local lads in the major Prem teams because having a bunch of foreigners can take away some of the spirit of the club. Than again the quality football just won't be there. In the end I believe in merit over representation. It's how good you are not where you came from that ultimately counts. So I'm against 6+5.
Ok where do I start, there are so many different points raised in this thread.
Let me begin by saying that I'm English so I have strong views about the English game.
1. It all comes down to money, money and more money. The amount of foreigners that have come into England is huge. Supasta had a graph showing the increase of foreigners over a period of 10 years which is interesting to see (may I ask where you got that graph from). I knew it would look like that as I've witnessed it with my own club. The fact of the matter is that most clubs in England look overseas for players because they are cheaper than the local players. Gerard Houllier himself admitted to this when he was a manager.
I remember when he bought the french pair; Pongolle and Le Tallec, huge prospects in France and I think they came for 9 million the pair of them. You can't even get one english player with similat talent and reputation for that price alone. Most clubs if not all spend at least 80% of their time scouting European players in order to get value for money. This in my view is the main reason you have an influx of foreigners. You just have to ask Wenger if you don't believe me.
2. Regarding the national team. It is my view that their is loads of talent in England but the problem is that most of the English players play with smaller clubs and don't get the exposure and experience needed to move up that level. It is obvious that the 'Big Four' consist mostly of foreign players and these are the teams that play on the big stage year in and year out.
Having a 6+5 will only add strength, depth and experience into the England national team.
