Question is why don't the young English lads go overseas and play in weaker leagues where they can make a name for themselves. If you can't get into a mid table Prem side go play in Holland for example. Show your worth there and you might end up playing in the UEFA cup or even CL for a Dutch team. Then you'll get noticed. Personally I think many of them don't want to take the pay cut. Being a nobody in a Prem side still earns you more than playing for some Dutch team
 
It is just hard to call an English team English when it has like two English players in it...

If that is accurate, then La Liga have done well. They will have a good advantage if the 6+5 is implemented.

Anyone know figures on foreigners in the Italian League. I heard there has been a huge influx in the last 4 years. Anyone?

We have more under 21's internationals in the current side than any other italian club. If 6+5 comes to pass we would be in a good position.

Besides our boy Materrazi won the wc for Italy last time out.:D

Italy has always had lots of players coming in from South American especially Argentina. But to call them foreign is a bit unfair. Many of them actually qualify as Italian nationals through family links. Some in fact chose to play for Italy camorenesi is an example of this.

Sky had/has a huge part to play in this. The amount of money they pump into teams, especially the top teams is astronomical, more than anywhere in the world, besides USA, I would think anyway.

The 6+5 rule is idiotic. I truelly hope it never comes to light. It may help us against the english clubs but I would rather beat them by improving and becoming better rather than the rules helping us.

Besides it will be a huge mess. what happens to the players with dual nationality do they qualify as the 6 or what?? Also what about scottish players in england are they part of the 6 or not since scotland and england are part of Great Britain but they are separate in football.

There are clearly many things to iron out before they go ahead with it. I wouldn't say it is idiotic. I think it's a good thing. It will level out things a bit.

Agreed. Good point. Money is the only answer I have for you.

But, it's also because they are overpriced.

Any views on what your teams strongest line up would be in terms of this rule:)
 
ours would probably look something like this

reina

darby,carra,skrtl,insua

el zhar,spearing,macherano/alonso ,riera

gerrard
torres

and with this team we would still whip Manure:D

Let me begin by saying that I'm English so I have strong views about the English game.

1. It all comes down to money, money and more money. The amount of foreigners that have come into England is huge. Supasta had a graph showing the increase of foreigners over a period of 10 years which is interesting to see (may I ask where you got that graph from). I knew it would look like that as I've witnessed it with my own club. The fact of the matter is that most clubs in England look overseas for players because they are cheaper than the local players. Gerard Houllier himself admitted to this when he was a manager.

I remember when he bought the french pair; Pongolle and Le Tallec, huge prospects in France and I think they came for 9 million the pair of them. You can't even get one english player with similat talent and reputation for that price alone. Most clubs if not all spend at least 80% of their time scouting European players in order to get value for money. This in my view is the main reason you have an influx of foreigners. You just have to ask Wenger if you don't believe me.

I got the graph from the BBC site they had a huge article while england were trying to qualify for the euro on the problems england are having producing talent.

The influx of talent into the national team will just keep getting worse until something gets done.

Also the english have too many stupid rules when it comes to getting youngsters into your academy, for instance under 12's must live within an hour's travelling distance from the club, or 90 minutes for players aged 13-16.This is to stop clubs signing young players who live outside their catchment area

This law does not affect getting a youngster from europe hence the english have a reputation of poaching from other countries.

And therein lies the rub... With that rule, the English have shot themselves squarely in the foot.

Manchester knew about Micheal Owen when he was 11, but due to rules, they were not allowed to sign him. Not saying that he would have been better off in united, but it's point that you can;t get the best English blokes because of that. So they make do with what they have and fill up their youth squads with foreign talent not subject to those rules who actually could become amazing, as opposed to just the best in their area...

no thats incorrect its 6 players that have come through your academy (doesnt matter what nationality they are as long as you developed them and 5 foreigners ,the reason why they had to change it the europeans union did not agree with the initial 6+5 which was 6 local + 5 foreigners

So you can still have 11 foreigners in the starting line-up. That doesn't sound right.

edit. I'm missing something. I remember reading about the 6+5 rule and it wasn't as Guru said unless I'm mistaken. The one Guru mentioned was about the changes implemented in squads for Champions League which has already been implemented. Someone have any information just to clear this up. I can't seem to find anything at the moment.
