Cryptocurrency Mining

Yup yesterday it was still $90, almost gave me a heart attack, although by the time mine arrives it will probably make me sad.
I will be happy if my October d3 can do $50 a day. With two thats still 3000$ so looking at ROI of 5 weeks

ETH difficultly increase also happened last night :(

I see nothing about a confirmed ETA for the metro update, which should drop it.

Is Nicehash down? all my miners say dead? :wtf:

Soooooo..... anyone care to weigh in on when they think scrypt and x11 is going to start declining slower than it currently is, or is this the beginning of the end?

With each of them down around 50% in terms of profitability (Nicehash stats) in the last 20 days, it doesn't paint a pretty picture.

I've been tracking the numbers, and when you actually see the decline on a graph, it puts a bit of a damper on the whole thing :( I don't even want to think what it's going to look like when I finally get my L3+ next month, let along my D3 in November.

Maybe it's true what they say... the only people who made money during the gold rush were the guys selling shovels :D

ETH UPDATE

After the Ethereum Dev call yesterday it has been confirmed the release date for Byzantium will be at block 4,370,000 which should be mined on October 17th. They were originally aiming for block 4,350,000 which would have been October 9th however have given them self another week to ensure everything is tested. After the difficulty bomb that went off yesterday, we are going to land at about 29s block times between now and then. After October 17th, we should see our mining rewards improve by approximately 23% from what it is after this latest difficulty bomb adjustment.

I’ve also gotten quite a few questions and DMs from people asking about 3GB cards and how long will they be viable for.

The DAG file will exceed 3GB at block 6,900,000 however the mining programs need a little overhead so it is expected that current miners will no longer work with 3GB cards at block 6,750,000 (2.92GB).

Byzantium will land on block 4,370,000 so we will have approximately 2,380,000 blocks before 3GB cards will no longer mine Ethereum. At 14.1s blocks, it will take ~388 days from October 17th 2017. This will put the end of life date for 3GB cards on Ethereum at November 9th 2018. As we will see the delayed difficulty bombs drop and extend block times at blocks 6,500,000 (0.4s), 6,600,000 (0.6s) and 6,700,000 (0.9s), I estimate it to be November 12-13th 2018. While the plan from the Ethereum foundation would be to be at POS at this stage, given their track record on delivery dates, I would take that with a grain of salt.

TL:DR
Byzantium releasing October 17th at block 4,370,000
Mining rewards to increase ~23% from current levels at that time due to difficulty bomb delay
3GB Mining cards good on ETH until ~12-13th November 2018 (13.5months)

Good news for gamers if they can wait a year.

Those cards will be worth nothing by then.

Feck I'm glad I'm not taken up by this hype. BTC going down to below $1,000 before the end of this year. Enjoy your losses.

Was refering to 3Gb cards in general should be good for gaming still?

4 GB minimum recommendation nowadays. So those cards are not recommended and a year from now will be worth little, especially after being run at 100% 24/7. No gamer in his right mind will buy them.

No no I means the new cards next year won't be priced in for the high demand.

Example the 2070s will be so overpriced its rediculous becuase Nvidia knows it will be bought up by miners.

I want saying gamers should by these second hand mining cards was trying to say the new cards should hopefully get released at "normal" pricing.

For someone who isn't into crypto, you paste on every other page. You care deeply, admit it.
