Cryptocurrency Mining

XDN now more purchased than ETH , quite remarkable.

This annual interest is something that people already understand, to a point, and hey, who doesn't like some free money.

Thrown all my eggs into the XDN basket, currently mining at about 700 H/s and won't be long till I have 1700 coins

Fun fun :)

What are you mining on?

(also that's traded today right? So it has one good day, what makes you think it will outlast ether?)

Just my home rig, I don't have anything fancy like you guys. I'm in the process of getting something up and running though, might take some time though.

Traded in last 24 hours.

No guarantee it will outlast Ether at all, especially with the corporate backing that Ether has at the moment.

But for me, to farm Ether right now with my hardware isn't worthwhile.

I'll rather mine coins on cheapies like XDN and SIA

No no, I get that, I'm asking on what as in what software?

I'd like some too.

can someone also enlighten me as to why the guides for building these mining rigs recommend 4GB cards... is that simply enough and 8GB is just an extra cost and will be wasted?

What's a realistic/acceptable rate of return in terms of time? Obviously the sooner you break even the better, but take that 3 x 1070 config.

What time horizon do you have at which point you want to say your mining efforts have settled your initial investment?

You going to have to calculate everything mate,

get your pen and paper out

Off the top of my head and with very rough calculations, using Daggerhash algo on nicehash I get about 15 USD a day with x3 1070's pulling 450w at the wall (for whole system). This works out very roughly to about R5700 pm - R600 (+/-) electricity.

That's about 5k pm depending on USD/ZAR and BTC/ZAR fluctuation. All-in-all about 4-5 months to pay off initial system. I started when Ether price was around R1200, just went over R3000 - so that helps :D

No idea what settings is best though, If I lower power to 70w-80w the Hash rate drops quite hectically. Hoping someone can assist, I've played with all settings and the pic I uploaded is the best I can get it.

Of course prices could fall and apparently my Zotac's have 0 resale value so it's quite a risky endeavour. I'm approaching it more as a hobby to make myself feel better if it all goes south :D Worst case scenario I play me some Witcher on those bad boys :P Or sell them on my thread....

Built this baby over the weekend:

Thanks. Yeah it's more a question out of curiosity than anything else, trying to understand the goals each one has set for themselves.

The frames you can buy ready made for 6GPU rigs are... let's say not very well made. I don't like cable ties holding everything together and then still relying on gravity to keep it all in place. I will be designing something during the course of the week that is a bit easier to assemble, stack-able and have proper space for 3-4 extra fans and perhaps better cable routing
