So, I got a quote from an Alibaba-verified company out of China for an L3+ for around R60k including PSU and shipping with DHL (withing 2 weeks), excl. duties.

They have a few for cheaper, shipping later too, (30-70 days) at around R36K, which is quite a bit cheaper than locally-advertised units, and in line with Bitmain's timeline if you're lucky enough to be in the list.

Would you do it?

NO

I have a big tinfoil Sumbrero, the market place was looking good, that's why it didn't make sense to me, I only had a quick glance maybe I missed something, it's been doing well since the pump yesterday.

Edit: this is for scrypt.

Seems others experiencing the same... see URL above.

So me and the missus decided to pull the trigger on an L3+ miner.

If any of you have any nuggets of wisdom to talk me out of it, now's the time

Nah but seriously, figured if we're going to invest, might as well try and make it count.

Hi guys,

I recently bought a 1070 to get a taste of mining. And now I'm ready to go all in with a 4 or 6 card rig.

This one card makes about R28 per day on Eth mining at 33mh excluding electricity.

I can get stock of the 4gb AMD 580's by mid September. Or I can get more 1070s right now. The price difference is major, at about R3, 000 per card.

I feel comfortable with the more expensive 1070s because they are 8gb cards and I think they may be more future proof, for other currencies too. But they're much more expensive.

Any suggestions?

I don't know if I've got the balls to do this.

I'd rather buy a GPU rig that can and mine other currencies too, spreading the risk. Then convert your earnings in those currencies to Bitcoin if that's what you. Or use something like Nicehash that does it already.

Besides, Id like to have risk spread across a few currencies and not just BTC

So the plan is to use Nice Hash or Pro hashing, and mine across all scrypt coins rather than mining LTC outright, at least initially. I've previously used NHM and I'm comfortable with it, although lately people have not had kind words for it.

I'm really at two minds whether scrypt or x11 is a better bet as far as an ASIC is concerned (D3 vs L3), but all things being equal as it stands today, it seems as if scrypt will give me a quicker ROI, which is what I'm after. Anything after break-even is fair game.

D3 is more profitable right now, but either should be OK. Dj has a couple of those.

Yes, they have been a bit meh this past week on Nicehash, but now that LTC has hit $60 it's looking a bit better.

Nicehash profits really not what they used to be despite spikes in crypto prices. Doing software for 6xgtx rig tonight and wondering if claymore mining will be better

Yeah was gonna ask you for a no-BS opinion on my plan, knowing you're invested in scrypt mining.

Have you used Prohashing? I've read good things. Same same, but different.
