Cryptocurrency Mining

Any pros and cons to note? Is the onboard chip not very slow?

Well not having to deal with risers is a dream, system has a very low energy footprint. Just feels hassle free compared to some of the systems Ive built

Cons, definitely the spacing on the slots. When you pack the cards close to each other they get quite hot. My solution is a deskfan blowing directly on the cards that have no gap between them. they are 1060 g1s running at 85% fan speed and maxing out at about 70 on a warm day like this. Last night i checked just before i went to bed and the card was at 62. So if i make a better plan with he cooling it will be no problem. Considering getting the 4U case they offer or try to find a similar solution. Need a strong fan blowing onto them and strong fans pulling that air out the back and a bit of a tunnel system(closed off so the positive air pressure runs right over the cards and not out and away)

Oh and the CPU seems more than fine for what i have in it, ran DTSM in windows and didn't feel like it wasn't strong enough. Might be different if you try running 8x 1080Tis, not sure.

So, TLDR. cooling needs a bit work on your part if you fully populate the slots.
Temps.jpg included a pic of the temps im getting

That is what I use. But you only have daily and monthly, and of course month to date. I will take a screen grab and show you

So I finally got time to connect the “smart plug” to my mining rig. Only issue is I can’t get it to pair. I plug it in and blue light flashes slowly - hold button for 5-7 seconds till it flashes repeatedly. Open the “EWeLink” and press the “+” button, select WiFi and enter password to start pairing but after a couple of minutes it says Pairing failed.

Also tried connecting to it from phone with the password - 12345677 - but says incorrect password.

How did you manage to get it connected?

Edit: plugged into another socket and was able to connect on my phone which then connected the plug so all working now.

This New ASIC Miner Could Pose a Major Risk to CryptoNight Miners

The newly announced Baikal Grant N ASIC miner threatens most CryptoNight-based coins.

It has been a rough couple of months for GPU miners as profitability continues to drop off due to increasing difficulty and decreasing coin price. However, for one particular subset of miners, things are about to get a whole lot worse.

In a recent announcement, China-based crypto miner creator Baikal unveiled a brand new ASIC miner that can supposedly mine coins that utilize the CryptoNight consensus algorithm at a hash rate of 20 KH/s and a power consumption of only 60W. If these specs are accurate, the Baikal Grant N stands to have a detrimental impact on the global hash rates across multiple CryptoNight coins, which were initially designed to be resistant to classic ASIC miners.

Coins At Risk

CryptoNight coins are some of the more popular coins available to miners, with coins like Monero, Electroneum and Sumokoin. The majority of these projects have already identified the Baikal problem, and are being proactive with their preparation for its launch.

Monero leadership recently stated, “We strongly believe that it’s beneficial to preserve our ASIC resistance. Therefore, we will perform an emergency hard fork to curb any potential threat from ASICs if needed.”

The Sumokoin team said the following on Twitter, “there will be no knee-jerk reactions from our side regarding the ‘announced’ ASIC. If there is an issue we will fork asap but till then we are not risking any forks till the first solid evidence on our network’s hashrate.”

Hmmmm, I need to 'pre-order' this.

Monero, etn and nicehash has confirmed they will fork ASIC immune with the new cryptonight v7 being released soon.

Those Bitmain X3s are dead in the water lol. :D
R150k brick. This is going to hurt their reputation big time.

Indeed but they still coining it big time! Only reason they released the x3 is because, baikal releases there miner. They been making big bucks mining monero. The fork will sort out the diffcutly on monero, which means gpu miners can switch back and diffuctly on other coins should drop also.

What does Nicehash have to do with crypto night v7 and it being asic immune? Why would they care if you mine with gpus or an asic miner?

More money in lower difficulty and more gpu miners . difficulty rocketing and price of coin not rising as fast us a disaster..See D3 and Dash
