Cryptocurrency Mining

Right, it was a stupid question in retrospect xD.

I'm checking it out now. I see my rig uses less power mining it compared to eth so going to mine it until the morning to check out the stats.

cryptonight does consume less power than ethash yes. 30% roughly but as for the earnings, it seems the difficulty has caught up now so not as profitable as it was a few days ago.

Help with modem/router for mining.

Hey guys. Thanks so much for all the help this far. Can you please tell me what modem/router I should buy that can take a mobile sim card. It should be able to have 4x antminers plug into it. Thanks in advance.

B315 or b618 would be fine. Get a 8 port switch also just incase for expanding.

Ok so I have finally gotten time again to get my rig running (ran for the month of feb but since then been off as I’ve been away).

I was first using NiceHash and then tried SimpleMiner - battled a bit but finally got it to work and make changes etc. Problem is whenever I try overclocks it works for 30-60 mins before restarting. Unless I turn overclock way down but that defeats the point. So been thinking of using NiceHash again as it ran a full month without any issues.

Now my question is, is NiceHash V2.0.2.1 still a good one to use and if so what algorithms should I select? At the moment all are selected after doing the benchmarks. I know last time someone told me to rather use NiceHash Legacy - is that still recommended and if so anyone care to tell me steps again to setup / what algorithms to use?

Lastly, it was originally a 6x 1060 3GB rig but since then have removed one of the GPU’s and put in my daughter PC. Would going from 6 to 5 cards make a massive difference or is 5 still good enough?

Sorry for all the questions.

5 is still fine.

I would enable, cryptoknight v7,equiphash, and eth on nicehash.

Legacy miner is for amd, use the newest v2 miner for a nvidia rig.

Great thanks.

Under Algorithms there are 12 to chooses from:

Keccak
Nist5
NeoScrypt
Lyra2Eev2
Decred
Cryptonight
Lbry
Equihash
Pascal
Sia
Blake2s
CryptoNightV7

I have enabled both CryptoNightV7 and Equihash but can’t see ETH - is it one of those on the list?

I downloaded the latest version 2.0.2.1 BETA - is that fine?

Is any one using hive os? If so do you have a good link to setting it up for mining? Or should I consider something else. Currently I am using nice hash. But want to see if I could get more out of mining.

You won't get out more using it.

I use it on 2 rigs, just because I was to lazy to reinstall windows 10. Updates disable mining on the main gpu.

There is template on the web interface on how to setup the wallets, the install is basically copy the ISO to a flashdrive to run.

Ok will have a look and try it out. i have the OS on a stick the pc boots up on it. just have to set up wallets and pools etc.
Do i use the my own wallet adress E.g Jaxx or the wallet from nicehash etc? which pools should i use and sign up for?

For start just point it to nicehash pool with nicehash wallet address. You have manually mine to nicehash, no auto switching etc .

So not sure what is going.

When I first setup the mining rig in January I used the following OC Settings:

Power Limit: 75
Core Clock: +100
Memory Clock: +650
Fan speed to 65

It ran perfect for the month with maybe 1 restart.

I have now started it up again running NiceHash V2.0.2.2 and whenever it starts to mine it will run for about 5 minutes before the entire rig shutsdown and restarts.

I have changed OC settings to:

Power Limit: 85
Core Clock: +100
Memory Clock: +600
Fan speed to 65

But still have the same issues of restarts.

Anything else I can try to fix this issue? Nothing has changed on the rig since I last used it.
