Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

Ok , so if you cancel now from Crystalweb, will you be able to get a new ISP and will the line be released?

Edit: Next month
My line wasn't put into the holding pool like I requested. It was just straight up CANCELLED

Well Telkom accounts just told me that I have a voice line with them, they couldnt tell me anymore than that. So the line is still with CW/Evo which means at any point I could lose Internet connectivity depending on how long this dispute goes on for. Anyone know how much a 4mb DSL line rental costs roughly so I can start budgeting for paying Telkom when the dust settles?

*edit* Telkom site says ~R301...

If your line has not been moved to the holding pool and is not working, I suggest you try this.

I called Telkom Tech and they told me that only the voice part of my line is active and the adsl has been cancelled. I suspect many lines have been deactivated. I then called Telkom Sales (10213) and requested that my adsl line be reinstated. My line should be working by the end of the week and managed then by Telkom.

Do you have to pay anything to activate your line, because I wanted to do that, but crystalweb told me I will have to pay to activate it

What a sad mess you all got yourselves into!
For those of you with an active telephone service that is active and working, your telephone account should show a line rental amount. Pay that. If there is no ADSL service active on your line anymore, then it means you should be able to apply for an ADSL service direct from Telkom and get it up and running fairly easily.
NOTE: This does not imply that you should get your ISP service from Telkom, it just means that you now have an access service on ADSL.
THEN , as a next step, you can now at least get back on the internet.

Now you should be able to sit back and let the CW/EN mess sort itself out.
What happens when they then try to put your "line" back in the holding pool will of course be a risk, as they will look for it not find it hopefully and just drop it, or, they will end up fiddling with your "new" ADSL service.

Sorry cant help myself but to remind all that I warned everyone against this process of transferring your ADSL service to you ISP. AND, to boot, AGAINST cancelling your telephone service! Those that have been able to ride this out the best, are the ones that retained their fixed line services, because that forced Telkom/Openserve into a situation where they had to break the accounting link between the fixed line service and the ADSL service.

Let this be a lesson to all NOT to transfer control of your ADSL line to your ISP again!
Secondly, while you have an ADSL service running, KEEP your fixed line working and paid up!
Even if you never use it.

So @Geoff.D what you are saying is that I can apply for a new DSL line even though my current line is sitting with CW/Evo? OpenServe will then "install" that line and I can then go with an ISP of my choice. When the time does come for the line to be transferred back to me I will either be paying for two DSL lines or there will be a system conflict and the one will get cancelled? Right now my DSL is working despite the fact that neither CW or Telkom are charging me for the line.

Same with me

What will be interesting to see happen is if my line gets suspended now that I have an official complaint number that is now sitting with Telkom. To my mind since I have an official case number they can't suspend me until that gets answered in full.

Did you file your complaint against Telkom or Crystal Web?

I put the complaint against Crystalweb and ICASA have pushed it to Telkom. Heck I have no problem resubmitting and naming all of them, keep in mind this is my first attempt with putting in a complaint with ICASA so the old mantra applies "If at first you don't succeed, try, try and try again" :).

I submitted mine against Crystal and Evonet

Actually that was the wrong way to go about it imo. Whatever mess up came from Evonet and Openserve is what they need to discuss in meetings to resolve. Its Openserve that are disconnecting you and refusing to allow CW to move lines to the holding pool. So Openserve should take as much blame as Evonet/CW in this, because they are unethically cutting peoples connections due to their dispute with CW.

Holy hell. What the hell caused this thread to blow up like it did?

Tried to catch up and can only see something to do with EvoNet and CW and OpenServe?

Maybe that is why ICASA pushed mine to Telkom? Right now we are getting conflicting information as to where the problem actually lies but hey maybe someone can submit there's against OpenServe and let's see result they get :).

After the last weekend failure (October 5th through to 8th) a lot of us have now tried to move our DSL lines from CW back to our own accounts. For me my request has been sitting with CW for a month now with no proper feedback except for "It is sitting with management." Other people have been told that there is a dispute between CW/Evonet and OpenServe about non-payments and that OpenServe are holding CW/Evo users hostage because of it. Not sure what the actual reason is but because my line is with CW, my request to transfer is with CW, they have had and not acted in 14 business days means that my ICASA complaint should go to them and it is up to ICASA to mediate between the parties.

Damn. Thank you and good luck!
