Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

Maybe that is why ICASA pushed mine to Telkom? Right now we are getting conflicting information as to where the problem actually lies but hey maybe someone can submit there's against OpenServe and let's see result they get :).

The dispute with openserve and Evonet/CW are not end users problem. The end user ie me and you, should not be included in this, and that Openserve should be acting more responsibily when it concerns active lines that are paid for by the consumer. In no uncertain terms should OS being disconnecting users lines or refusing the ISP to move those lines into the holding pool. This is something that ICASA and the CPA should take a strong look into, because while the dispute rages on between Evo and Openserve, the actual users should be kept out of it, until its resolved.

As much as people want to blame Evonet and CW, and rightly so, Openserve are the ones who are cutting off people, suspending lines, and not being forthcoming with allowing CW to move users lines to the Pool. Thus, the complaint to ICASA should be around all parties, but particularly the organisation that has the ability to suspend or disconnect without proper communication

@Icemanbrfc Now I understand. Well, as mentioned, mine has been pushed to Telkom for a response, maybe in ICASA's eyes they are considered the same company? My proposed resolution is that the line be transferred post haste with no downtime or delay to me so that could also be why it has been sent Telkom?

Im trying to get hold of Paul Hijul, but if they didnt charge you for line rental this month, then just hang tight. I have a feeling that the reason they haven't charged line rentals, is that they Evonet will move away from line rentals and only focus on the data side of things.

Either that, or they are being cautious due to the last incident, and would rather not charge users for something which Openserve might disconnect again. So if it's the latter, then i suppose credit where its due, they would rather not take money if they are not sure what Openserve might do.

Yeah no rental charge for the month and I suspected the same reason you outlined at the end. If they did not take money for it then they can't be held accountable except for the fact that I have over two years of my DSL line being with them so ... I don't know. I can't wait for this to be over...

Customers don't contract directly with Openserve. Hence why the complaint is sent to Telkom, even if the technical aspects are being handled by Openserve.
When lawyers, marketing and accountants get involved, they care squat about individual, relatively low paying customers.

Cancelled my line with Crystalweb as per their policy. Line wasn't moved to holding pool due to this mess up, so I couldn't transfer.

A few calls and pleads to 10213 requesting that they move the adsl line to the holding pool proved unfruitful.

Requesting that telkom force take over the line worked though, after the agent went to speak to a manager. I was informed that the line will be activated within 7 - 14 days, but was actually back up a day later. I was informed that CW could force the line back if there is any outstanding fees due to them, which I informed telkom there isn't and that they actually owe me credit for the months downtime.

So if you're not getting any luck, try 10213 a few times and insist that they transfer the line to telkom. If the agent isn't willing to assist, ask that they check with their manager on forcing the transfer.

Good luck to all who are still stuck without internet.

I think that is an excellent idea, especially since Evonet hasnt charged users for the line.

Check your fixed line telephone account. Is the line rental there now?
And to answer your previous question, yes when the dust settles you could find yourself being billed for an ADSL service that does not physically exist.

No my Telkom bill also does not reflect the line being there either. Now that I have an official ICASA complaint number I am going to move the money to another account so as to not spend it and see what they come back to me with.

Maybe I should try the same thing. How do I do this?
