Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

I had the same experience.... Only been with them for 3 and 1/2 weeks. Noticed Sundays peak hours were bad and it has now spread to weekday peak hours too. Cant even compare work hours to evening peak hours.... even with positive speed tests. What gives? Can anyone shed some light on this? I thought Crystalweb and Vumatel don't throttle? I am only streaming the news and the buffering I so bad it gets annoying so close the page.

11pm on the dot and all is well again on CW. Streaming via YT/Netflix is now functional, browsing is far quicker and Speedtest results reflect the same.

Wow, impressive difference. Is AH = Afrihost? Who hosts them that there is not drop during peak performance?

Having the same issues also in Cape Town this is becoming the new normal used to never complain about CW I think its time for a change!!

Is this very much limited to WC/EC? I have done tests on my side numerous times when there's been complaints on here, and it's been full steam ahead at all times for me so far. So I guess Gauteng isn't affected?

If so, I wonder if CW staff will be able to figure out what would affect bandwidth only in some areas, and not in others, on their side. Seems to do with provisioning/IPC, if I had to take an amateur guess.

Hard to say really. Anecdotal evidence on here seems to indicate that most of the affected reside in CT and EC. This makes sense given the link between the two.

That said, there are a few CT users here who claim to have had no issues.

I made the switch to Afrihost this morning.
Im not currently at home, but my partner is there and he's telling me that he can already see a difference when watching Netflix, Youtube etc.
The real test will be tonight after 20:00.

Holding thumbs!

I'm with Afrihost, they do have their issues on certain days especially fb videos.
Otherwise they are good.

Switched to the Telkom 4Mbps uncapped promo. I'm enjoying that much better.

10MB Premium Uncapped user in CPT here.

Also experiencing issues with streaming Netflix and Youtube, as well as poor pings to games such as CSGO, WoW, and BF1.

Support Warrior on CW chat stated that the issue is known and is being investigated by management.

Oh my soul! And, management did not once think to notify clients? Maybe they have more than enough clients already and simply do not care.

I told him that they need to make this issue known with people and to send out a notice once a fix has been found/implemented

The dreaded 19:30 came and went and I thought I was out of the woods but just got hit with the same issue again now.

I have horrendous ping to the Bloem servers, not as extreme internationally though.

Higher than normal ping to vienna on the speedtest, pings are 185ms though.

Degraded performance as well, though Telkom are messing with my lines, currently my line sync degraded to 8.9Mbps :(

Contacted CW support again last night and chatted with Impi and he is escalating it too... I suspect it is an Internet Solutions issue... so not sure how they are going to work around this problem...

AFAIK Afrihost is on IS too, and people here who have tested both AH and CW consecutively, seem to be running fine (speed-wise, anyway - AH has its own other issues, so not vouching for them at all) on AH.

Had a brief chat with CW management and it appears they are indeed aware of the issue. The feedback given was that they are still trying to establish under what conditions the issue is present as it's clear its not as cut-and-dry as only/all CT and EC users being affected, and likely stems from a set of conditions rather than just one.

I did request/suggest that they make it known to their customer base that they are working on resolving it even though they don't have the exact root cause at present.
