Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

Vox seems like a solid choice at the moment, I'm all good for paying a higher price for better performance but Crystal Web performs worse than Vox for much more money which is insane. I don't understand why things had to get this bad before they started upgrading their stuff. Seems like poor foresight.

I'm more inclined to try an unshaped Afrihost or Axxess account. Vox is insanely expensive for heavy users. Fibre uncapped pricing is bonkers.

Vox is R1/GB - unless you're banking on the unmetered hours?

What's your typical usage?

1-2TB. Their website is borderline unusable on mobile, but it seems my options are R3149pm for uncapped (month-to-month) or R999pm for 1TB Fat Pipe data plus line rental of either R969pm (12 month contract) or R884.50pm (24 month contract).

I don't do long term contracts for internet, and those line rental prices are the worst I've seen.

Have you settled down now? Last time you posted it was more than that?

Why move your line? R999 for 1TB + unlimited midnight-6am. I'd always recommend keeping your line with an ISP like ISPAfrica that are reasonable and let you move data accounts easily.

I planned to use ISPAfrika again for my line, but a misunderstanding with CW led to them getting the line. I would need to check any ISP out with a smaller account before committing. Vox hasn't even been on my radar - awful customer service and network performance last time I paid attention to their feedback thread (which was a while ago).

I'd have pretty good experience with them, are you locked into a contract with CW? If they've been fine with the line then you can just keep the line with them and cancel the data portion. Let us know who you move to because I'm also keen.

No, CW is month-to-month for everything. I'm loathe to move away from them - their live chat is leagues ahead of anyone else's customer service and their network was rock solid for ages. Hence why I need to be 100% certain I don't just have a lousy fibre line before moving (previous address got 97Mbps actual speed, which I don't get now).

Cop a free 1GB account from the many ISPs out there, or if need I can let you use one of mine to test.

ETA is end of this week for the core network fault fix... holding thumbs.

Pretty much the end of line for me if they don't resolve it by then. The lack of feedback (even though I begged them to communicate to everyone else when they explained the issue to me) is ridiculous.

Paying for a premium Unshaped/Uncapped product several months in a row with sub-par performance is not on.

Yup. 14 days from the 19th when this was reported. So June 3rd, this coming Friday, is the deadline.

I'd love some damn feedback from their management account in this thread. It is active and lurking around here I'm damn sure.

Yep - they posted earlier today regarding some business account stuff but stuff their feedback thread...

Pathetic I'm staring to get really fed up now cannot stream anything down to 0.57mb on a 4mb line this is not acceptable

Downloads are pretty much being shaped through the night as well. I was getting about 150kb\s on torrents at 2am and the speed is the same this morning still. I switch to a trial account and its full speed 900-1000kb\s.
