Phoned Telkom (again) and they confirmed the line was suspended but paid up (again) and said they would lift the suspension on the voice portion of the line (again) but they couldn't do anything with the data portion and I needed to speak to my ISP.
I explained my ISP are not responding and are pretty much refusing to help at this stage. She gave me the number for OpenServe and said I should maybe speak to them.
Gave OpenServe a call and even though the guy I spoke to does not usually speak to the public, he was a great guy to talk to. He said there was nothing he could do and I needed to speak to CyrstalWeb as that is what was communicated to them during their briefing (at least I think that is what he said).
Thankfully when he rechecked the line he saw that it was actually working now, so it seems that Telkom lifting the suspension of the voice portion also fixed the problem on the data portion. Now I just hope the automatic systems don't kick in and re-suspend the line.
Listening to the Telkom lady and OpenServe guy talking, and reading in-between the lines, I think CrystalWeb owe OpenServe a lot of money and our lines are being held ransom until the money is paid. It is possible EvoNet didn't know about the debt, or did and thought they weren't buying the debt, and now there is a battle between new and old owners as to who should pay it.
For those of us who have managed to get the lines unsuspended, I have a very strong suspicion that if CrystalWeb don't sort this out by months end, we will all find ourselves with suspended lines again.
