Crystal Web DSL performance feedback thread Part 4...

Connection was droppy yesterday, lost connection at least 3 times - fixed by a router reboot...11pm last night the router reboot didnt fix the connection but this morning I woke up with a connection.
Glad to see more and more people coming online.

I called Telkom yesterday and they unsuspended my line. Took 10 mins. That ended 2 weeks of no connectivity.

Some of you are lucky.

Took me 3 attempts, 1st time they called back and said they immediately going to unsuspend it - nothing happened. Called them 2 days later and they said they will unsuspend it and still nothing. 3rd attempt was on a friday and they said the previous agent had logged the call with the IT SERVICE DESK and they are working on it...and then it only came online on Sunday 3pm.

Anyone else that got reconnected experience line sync issues today?
Not today, but 2 days ago. I got it. Kept having to reboot router and the 11pm reboot didn't help. But I've been fine today, i think...no disconnects and I've been doing a bit of downloads in the morning.

Ive submitted my cancelation using the web form and i got couple of mails over the last few hours from podio that its confirmed. Now to wait and see what happens at month end with the holding pool story.

Can everyone who's been having issues recently with CW please DM me and tell me your story and what your experience has been like recently? I'd like to cover this.

Probably combination of

1. Disgruntled customer
2. Script kiddies
3. Direct competition (ISP/Other)
4. Asian interest

I was told that it was someone already known to them. There was an investigation that was being run by the SAPS/Hawks, AFAIK.

Dear xxxxxx xxxxxx

Everyday technology shifts to bigger and better things, creating a number of "firsts" on an ongoing basis, and our mission is to take you along on the journey that the global community is embracing.
EvoNet is the network operator, fibre infrastructure innovator and Internet Service Provider that has taken what the modern world is doing and has brought it straight to you.
We are the first commercial (ISP) to, as of 15 October 2018, take capacity on the new direct "Africa to America cable system."
To you, our clients, this means that you are going to be the first in a future of thousands upon thousands to experience better speed and latency on our network.

What does this mean?

For you this means you WILL enjoy more time watching your favourite TV shows, instead of beckoning to the "buffering powers that be" to let you finish your episode in peace, while the relationship between gaming and lagging concludes in what will be the most seamless of ceremonies.
We could use words like "ping" and "latency" and tell you that you could expect speeds as low as 130ms across the atlantic, but that's for us nerds. We know you have better things to do, and need to do them fast, so what we will tell you is to expect speeds that make you forget that dial-up was once a thing in the 90's. Welcome to the fastest internet speeds in South Africa and your home, to date.
All of this gives us the opportunity to introduce brand new products and services that would have not been possible without our inception and intergration into the SACS (South Atlantic Cable System) network that joins us and the Americas and shapes (or in this case, unshapes) your entire online experience.
Stay tuned for more news on how the migration to EvoNet will affect and improve your experience.
EvoNet, together with you, is going to change the way we see, use and experience the internet.
Welcome to the Evolution, welcome to the family.

EvoNet claimed to already be on SACS at the very start of October...

SACS isn't going to change the game, I wonder why they're hyping this up... it's not like carriers will suddenly drop costs and most CDNs used are local already, negating the benefit of lower latency to the USA.

I guess CW has always been a loud mouthed company with little substance, will be funny to see what snakeoil they bring out next...

BTW, where is XtremeTTH?

QFE. I'd really like to get some thoughts and experiences from actual CW customers still using their services including line management.

Still using CW. Got back online by visiting Telkom shop. Not keen porting line back to Telkom. Hoping the line issue finally sorted.

I see my line rental not on CrystalWeb invoice. According to chat they will send out communication about this today or Monday.

Well I am still offline, 22 days now and counting. Tried contacting Telkom but I was told I have to contact my ISP for the data part and yes, we know how that is going.
