Ok, from what I’ve seen so far Crystal Web is quite highly rated here. Because of that I’ve chosen them as my ISP of choice for FTTH. I applied on 28 July. Since then absolutely nothing has happened. I’ve been in touch with CW on numerous occasions and they simply tell me that Open Serve will come around and connect me. They really don’t seem to care when or if this will happen. I’ve been in touch with CW customer service and all they can say is that I have to wait. When I signed up with CW they said installation will be between 4 and 6 weeks...it has now been 6 weeks and yet apparently it’s been my fault for not giving my address....um, when you check fibre availability your address is checked so that’s not the issue. I believe Shaun from CW is sometimes on these forums. If so, please reply.

CW used to be very highly rated. Less so these days. I've submitted cancellation with them and will be with Cool Ideas from next month.

Shaun was banned a long time ago. Other CW management used to use the forum but very seldom do nowadays, and even more seldom in their feedback thread. The only real reason I'm leaving though is the slow international connectivity - their live chat support is still great.

Why was he banned?

Why was he banned?

From what I could gather:
He had some meltdown and was banned...but then he was unbanned (after many people got their panties in a bunch). Then, he started picking fights with rpm and co. -which led to the final ban.
Regardless of his excellent and informative "information posts," he was arrogant and (unnecessarily) treated many forumites like shlt, IMO.

Anyway....

These are not the reasons he was banned, btw.

Openserve... still an issue with upload rate!

Can you post a speed test to NYC or Washington?

10MB FTTH Openserve Capped Account -
Washington: PING 222ms DOWNLOAD 5.44Mbps UPLOAD 4.78Mbps
LOCAL: PING 7ms DOWNLOAD 9.78Mbps UPLOAD 4.92Mbps
LONDON: PING 149ms DOWNLOAD 1.04Mbps UPLOAD 4.78Mbps

Dammit, this 18 hours a day uncapped has me hooked though.

it is CW on OS fibre.

Yes I know that, you did state it. But you state there is a problem with your upload and the issues is with OS or did I miss that. If not my question is did you test your upload with another ISP or test account. If not then you can not say with 100% accuracy that it is OS that is the problem.

My 100Mbps capped account is barely any better for international. There are some things I can't tolerate, hence the cancellation. Wish I cancelled last month.

Crystal Web fibre issues

Based on surveys on this site I’ve decided to go with Crystal Web as my ISP for fibre on the Open Serve network. I applied and received confirmation from CW on 28 July. They informed me that OS installation takes between 4 and 6 weeks. I accepted and based on their communication with me sat back and expected everything to go according to schedule. A month after my initial request I politely asked Crystal Web for feedback regarding the installation. I was informed that they don’t have my address so thing has been done. Ummm...I provided my address when I requested the installation. I’ve now asked CW to escalate this matter but given my communication with Open Serve today absolutely nothing has happened. The CW live chat people and email support have all been either placating (sorry) or implied that it’s my fault for not giving my address.

Seriously? Does anyone on this forum have the email address or cell number for Shaun? I know that CW provides a great network but I’m seriously tired of dealing with incompetent robots who are telling me to wait.

Sounds almost like you ordered a data only account?

It does sound like it, but it is a line and data account.

Was EXACTLY my experience with said party....

Ok, I'm happy to report that Michael from Crystal Web phoned me and that my issue has been resolved. A part of the problem has simply been misunderstandings and confusion which was partially created by Open Serve. I'm very satifafied with the way Michael has assisted me with my concerns and will continue with Crystal Web as my ISP. Thanks all for your input.
