Crystal web is a flippen joke

I've nothing against them, but from what I gathered it does seam like they simply just grew to big to fast and can't keep up.

That's a good thing they did something right, however unfortunately they appear to face the same fate as the rest of the ISPs, too little infrastructure too big client base.

I might be wrong, but that's just the observation I get.

I think you're spot on here. CW was amazing when I first started with them. Support was excellent and things ran well. Now it seems there are too many passengers on the buss and the wheels are falling off. I've handed in my cancellation letter to them. One more month and I am out. Going to a capped account.

This is true for any ISP guys. Especially those coming in guns blazing with an excellent product

You'd think their market research would have shown that if you have a great product, there will be demand for it. But no, it seems the MBA graduates still don't really get taught this basic thing at varsity

I've been with them since the very start.

They started off with only one type of uncapped account, and that was a great product. Then they introduced different types of packages, and all of a sudden new clients became unhappy (obviously because they opted for cheaper packages than they needed).

Along with that, their client base grew too fast. Support couldn't keep up and neither could their network.

You'd think they would've learnt from Afrihost's rise & fall (also grew too fast)

Now CW's PREMIUM accounts are excellent, but cost too much for me.

I eventually downgraded to Basic Home, but cancelled my account on the 24th of this month. Unfortunately I'm still stuck with my account for the whole of July.

Was also from the start, and i agree fully im on the same boat as you also jumping ship end of july

I have no sympathy for them cause one of their promise when they started was that they wouldn't take on more clients then their network could handle. Seems they forgot that...

A little more complicated than that. There is a need to keep growth in sync rather than to make the standard approach of building something and then trying to get the demand on the supply.

So each day the network capacity is looked at and mapped against various things to preserve network quality but if 20k people join it is impossible for even the largest operator in SA to provision the additional capacity on any individual link. In some cases we've been able to readily keep things perfectly in tandem but on the Cape Town side of things infrastructure beyond our control has also come up as necessary.

Other areas where growing quickly pose a challenge include staffing - sourcing and training, where the most important component is building the corporate culture and ethos. We haven't reaped dividends on cloning technology yet so this is an exercise and a half.

All and all the client base isn't too large for the overall infrastructure in place but it has caused a lot of niggles to escalate and several things we were hoping to rollout earlier have been delayed - as should be generally known Murphy is the patron saint of technology - and other rollouts have been moved forward to accommodate the customer number increase and this has sometimes also brought with it a few problems.

Ultimately though the propensity for a whole bunch of very silly narratives in the market are a bigger frustration. Threads like this one reveal the level of sillyness that can arise - really associate Crystal Web with people using crack is not on, we all know that Crystal has nothing to do with cocaine or marijuana

I hear a lot of babbling but not a single apology. This speaks volumes

Ergo, no need to apologize to you.

I meant an apology for the OP, this paul dude is just rude and pompous. Ever heard the saying "the customer is always right"?, he chooses to be defensive and attack customers. Nothing constructive transpired from his feedback/presence.

Paul's reply in this thread was neither pompus nor rude, which leads me to believe that you are either a clone trying to harm the CW brand or trolling.

Only naive people believe that the customer is always right.

Furthermore if you were a CW customer you would have received an email or two from Shaun last night or today, which explains what is happening.

A clone trying to harm Crystal Web,seriously? This isnt an episode of revenge or scandal. That is by far 1 of the weirdest things I have heard.

I havent stated any names or any specific company so what exactly have you reported? I am bored now.

The customer is not always right. That saying is so 50's

The customer should always be treated with value and respect

Uhm you are completely right. How could I be so stupid and miss the value and respect in Paul's reply:)

The customer is not always right - They can be ****ing arseholes, and in my opinion should be treated as such if they can't approach a business with the sort of attitude they no doubt expect and demand themselves.

Paul sure can waffle, but he's doing us a favour, representing himself as himself on the forum, and providing the info he does. I've no doubt that his intention is to provide us (the customers, of which I am one) a good internet experience, not waste his time apologising to aggressive ****s on the internet.

That being said, they are aware of having dropped the ball a bit, and if you were indeed a customer, you'd be party to what they've done recently in light of that.

I am kinda new to adsl. Does that big company Afrihost own this new company Crystal Web:)
