quite possibly actually although we've got that marked with the website being launched. At the moment item number 1 on the todo list is making sure DJ gets some sleep

I feel DJ`s pain, hehe. I know the industry too well :D When you do an ISP startup you are in for heavy grinding at the start until the economics of scale kick in and you can afford a larger support department.

You guys should create your own topic where you can keep the OP updated with latest information. It will help you a lot.

+1 on this. One place for peeps to check up on progress.

if you can include a tracert for netflix taken while you are running the service
I suspect there might be a glitch in the handover abroad and that the most direct route is not being taken

No need :). The issue is my PC by the look of it. If I cast from my iPad to my ChromeCast device it is perfect. Really strange...

I've noticed that too. Throughput is always flakey using Netflix through a browser. If I load up the same movie on my Roku bandwidth shoots up and get full 1080p after about 30 seconds.

Here is a traceroute to one of the netflix streams. Looks like it is choosing the correct service. But the ping might be a little bit high. Does Cybersmart have direct links to the Amsterdam exchange, or only the London exchange, but then again most of the streams go via WACS so its probably only London.

thanks okay lets crunch through the data a bit unotelly is definitely the determiner of where the content is being streamed from and WACS does send it down to London
we need to establish whether additional capacity on WACS will decrease the latency or whether there is a bottleneck higher up

Can I ask the stupid question? How do I do a tracert to the stream from Netflix? Grabbing the url from the address bar does not help.

I know it's a Sunday and all, but how long do you guys normally wait for a reply to an e-mail?
Been just over 3 hours for me.

Well they are running skeleton / minimal staff as far as I know, until they launch. And I'm sure the guys had a pretty late night too.

Let them get some rest, they deserve it :) I'm sure they will get back to you as soon as they can.

Is it possible to directly connect to a better peering location. Or is that influenced by unotelly. http://www.peeringdb.com/view.php?asn=2906

This is what I was talking about earlier when I kept saying IS the best so far. They just seem to choose the right peering partners so that everything including Twitch and Netflix just run perfectly.

My limited experience with VOX tells me they also seem to make the right choices.

I wasn't complaining. I'm surprised they even work on a weekend.

normally less than 30 minutes and our maximum is 3 hours, let me look or your ticket - do you have a ticket number?

I think it is ticket #88

Well I'm still waiting for a ticket I open at Afrihost a few hours ago.
Tickets I've sent to Axxess today have been replied to within 30 minutes :)
Crystal Web replied within 10 minutes when I tried about a week ago (That was at about 11 pm).
Cybersmart usually take at least a day to reply and so I usually call them and it seems to go through pretty quickly but if you need anything hosting done you usually have to send through an email anyway, but their hosting emails seem to be replied to quicker. MWEB take hours to reply sometimes and half of their email departments seem to take weekends off (although I haven't delt with them via email too much) - they do answer their phones almost immediately in most cases though.
Web Africa usually reply within 30 minutes but have had ticket replied to an our or two later on the odd occasion and they are very friendly and helpful via email and the phone.
OpenWeb are very fast at replying to emails and non existent on their phone support - but their service seems to have gone down a lot since I last delt with them.

That's my experience at least ;)

test.my always seems to give issues in my experience - why this would be I don't know - none of the other reps could tell me. Maybe Crystal Web can?

Nope. Testmy always give me the exact picture instead of speedtest.net being varying as ****. But I will redo the tests later on to be sure :)

However looking at PTA-US that is a massive improvement over AH.

I told him at about 09:30 this morning to get breakfast, coffee and 40 winks. Hope he had some rest by now. There is just so much you can do, after that, everything falls apart if you don't sleep.
