Crystal Web (NEW ISP) ADSL Feedback

I prefer a slower, shaped uncapped connection above a capped connection as I don't want to worry about hitting the cap.

Plus I don't always abuse it.
 
Where do one go to check for line problems?

We're having issues with whatsapp messages and emails not going out. Can't be firewall setups as nothing have changed.

I will test tonight and report back.

Ah ok. I received that one, you checked your junk email? Perhaps contact support to see if they have the correct email address for you on their system.

I'll ask the house hold not to go bananas and download the net and schedule big downloads between 12am and 6am.

Likewise, 5 users in the household, 2 of them sit on YouTube most of the night.

My average usage is generally 400gb. On Crystal Web it was much lower as I never got much throughput
throughput..even with the IS accounts.

So I believe your projected usage is going to be way off

When I look on my Q tree and disable the minimum and maximum bandwidth, one device on it's own pulls 3.4mbps on my 4mbps account. When I put the maximum back to 1.3mbps it is still able to stream HD on YouTube. So with the right tools you can save yourself a whole lot of headaches.

You are trying really hard to sell us on these damn Mikrotik things aren't you? :)
 
I am seriously considering getting one as well, just a question of finances since I will want the Rack Mounted version which is about R1k.

CW maybe add some router contracts(just a contract for the router not the interwebz) with some of the good routers.....coz tbh i think everyones sick of these terrible modem/routers telkom and other ISPs give you.....i'll buy a mirotik if i didn't have to buy the whole thing upfront :P

Will be Main Category > You > Min xmbps max xmbps

Main Category, their category with min and max and them under their category with their own min max. (min 128kbps max line speed)

In this case your min mbps will always be guaranteed, no matter what they do. Also under DHCP server you make their mac's and IP's static, so they can't change that and bypass your q tree. Any Mac's or IP's not allowed by you will not get internet. Easy and done, forget about it until the lightning strikes it.

It only works when all the parts are connected. :p

We contemplated this, and we do this for fibre broadband connections (preconfigured and managed routers/CPE) and static IP customers, but we need to focus on our core business first and look at hardware later.

You can chat with our local Microtik salesperson though if need be? saa044...
