shaped with gaming prioritized hands down.
one month ago i could play at 160ms with line speed downloads running....since unshaped having a 200kBps download running puts me at like 250ms(10mbps)

Hopefully everyone has downloaded the internet by now, so things can return to normal.

Which of the 2 uncapped account types would be best for gaming in general?

Unshaped or shaped with gaming protocols prioritized?

My BF 3 & 4 gaming just felt better with a shaped account.

BTW is BF3/4, if a enemy (computer player) sees you hiding behind a building he will sneak up behind you and shoot/knife you? The computer on Defiance does this to me constantly, if you think you outsmart them they just change tactics. If BF3/4 is like this I will buy both today.

Implement now.
Also. Visual basic [-]is not a programming language so that[/-] doesn't count.
needs to be 2 real languages also.....C++ and C# count as one, as do Java and J#(do people actually use that anyways....), won't have any corner cutting :P

The problem is I am "versed" in two programming languages - Pascal and C++ - but I don't own cargo pants and can't program for ****: so I am not a real programmer

What is also important is that even if somebody is well versed in 7 languages, able to program, and owns cargo pants we won't hire them if they are male and eat quiche .

However the first female person wearing cargo pants named Mel who rocks up with punchcards and demonstrable knowledge of machine code on any of our hardware platforms will be hired

Depends. I for one will be more than happy on a shaped acc with streaming and gaming prioritised. But again you get the 100GB a day ppl that also games. If my usage is low enough to stay on unshaped I will obviously not complain. :D

This is the big problem. We want to offer uncapped, unshaped, but guys doing 100GB per day simply won't be sustainable whatsoever - not even close to that. So what do we do? Introduce a threshold? Then we get complaints about it not being uncapped. Leave it be? Then the network gets congested at every turn as other ISPs have discovered, and all customers complain. Terminate these accounts? Then we land up on mybb's front page headlines. Increase prices to everyone to sustain these few users? Then we can't sell it.

:D

I will be happy with something of both worlds.

A shaped account, with gaming and streaming prioritized, but downloading not shaped to death (small DLs - 100-300MB) and from 5-6pm until 6-7am more unshaped to get the larger nntp and p2p stuff.

[-]Can i queue my cancellation for the end of the month?[/-]
well apparently you say 200gbs a month on 10mbps is high so i guess your srs.....

No but one does not simply expect good latency - - you need a good ISP ;)

I would guess downloading 24/7 is wourse than the amount of data you consume. Or that was what I understood from the mail mweb sent me years ago.

the amount of data used is of less relevance than the amount of demanded resources consumed
but again slasherjdc is looking at two separate questions - [1] what is "high" data usage, [2] what sort of data usage raises concerns; based on global user averages 100Gb a month is "high"

but your saying my usage that even mweb wouldn't throttle is considered high

No, there's so much confusion that happens here with this. May I ask that you talk with Paul directly instead about your specific usage. What started as a few comments in jest and discussions about general usage have resulted in you becoming a little paranoid about your usage with us. There's no need, I can assure you. Have a chat with Paul in private about this as it's specific to your account and usage patterns and is therefore best suited for a private conversation.

had one 1hour ago where he said it was fine but it was high...i was curious as to why that's considered high. if he means global then i get it.......but other countrys arn't forced to watch netflix instead of zerochoice :(

also saa04 i barely doing 1gb a day worth of downloads the rest is streaming so.....can't exactly schedule streaming :P

No the 24/7 download thing was meant in general, not focussed on you buddy. :) I also fall in the streaming category and unfortunately I can come close to consuming as much data as a downloader would. Just a hint to those that download series. video downloadhelper and some streaming sites = a win. A 22 minute episode comes in at 70MB. (I hope there was nothing warez/illegal in my post) :)

EDIT:

Saying saa04 is like saying 07. :p (Hides)

:D

Dynamic shaping... Firstly prioritise by user based on usage, then by protocol.

Assuming the pipe is constant, you just need flow control.

Sounds like you're potty training some people :D

Back to topic. I'm glad after doing the survey, seeing that CW is actually considering high capped/unshaped accounts, as well as Uncapped/Unshaped after business hours accounts.
