The international speed is improved, but still not great. Any idea when it will be resolved?

Can "potential" as in (have to wait until July) customers also take u up on that email offer Shaun ? Coz i see that we need to send a mail to sales with our usernames....although i have not got one as i'd like to wait until the end of the month to make up my mind....

Hi,

Unfortunately the offer is only for existing customers, including those who have signed up for activation on 1 July or later - these customers all have existing usernames and qualify for the freebie. I hope you can understand...

So from Aug 1st I am officially suffering from internetlessness. Hope you guys are ready by then...

Yep, with my brood, we hit about 500Gb per month. It is a mix between, browsing, streaming, a few downloads, P2P, but predominantly lecture downloads for the kids.

Looking at the honest CW feedback, it is like finding a virgin in a brothel!

+1 - this about sums up my useage pretty much to a T....

Having said that, my biggest gripe is support - or the lack of it lately.

It seems mediocrity is the order of the day.

There is nothing worse than having an internet issue, and then having to listen to a whole bunch of verbose crud before you get to actually talk to a human, and even worse when the human either thinks you are a computer genius ( at which point you want to teach him to do his first static line jump without a chute or better yet without the line and reserve) or he gives that age old excuse that its Telkom and its a best effort service, at which point mediocrity then comes back into play.

IMHO, give same product but better customer service (abuser for MWEB readers :D, or alternate account subscribers for OW readers ) at the same price and its a done deal.

I am also wary of test accounts - and short term reviews .... OW test account was as fantastic but long term it was non existent during the day. MWEB kicked me out of the club when the Ringmaster took over .... so .....

Woah, this being the Crystal Web thread and without you referencing your existing provider(s) the lack of context makes it sound as if you're berating Crystal Web for lack of support...:D

many consumer internet products - and everything over DSL - is a best effort service

but we take the phrase "best effort" at its actual meaning as opposed to an excuse.

Support staff in general cannot use the term because if a member of the support staff is dealing with a matter the company isn't making the best effort - unless the support staff are conveying a report back and management and the engineers are fixing the problem. An ISP cannot promise that there wont be problems, the can promise that they will invest their heart and soul into fixing problems and pro-actively move to address them.

:D:D:D

Apologies .... I am hoping that Crystal will be the provider of choice .... and distinctly NOT the norm.

Blue skies ....

If I happened to hook myself into the DFA / Sandton / Joziburg fibre network, would you be able to offer services on there?

edit: I was reading between the lines there, and I am sure TEXTILE GUY was referring to OpenWeb and not Crystal Web.:D

Absolutely. More about our fibre plans to be released soon...

Thats a shame.....oh well

EDIT : Just out of interest, if we sign up after 1 July, which news server will we have access to if not the one in your mail....surely we wont have to pay extra for it ?

Thx

Tks, indeed my intent - must have been my mediocre syntax and the awesome Graham Beck Railroad Red - forgive me ....

Indeed I am more than a little upset with some of my ex mediocre ISPs, and haven't had an opportunity to try out Crystal as yet.

Waiting on those reviews .... but hopefully giving them a pointer as to what makes some consumers happy (and I am sure I am not alone on this).

This is cool. Watching a 1250 Kbps stream via my wireless connection. No issues except a bit of picture break up but no buffering
