Crystal Web (NEW ISP) ADSL Feedback

My external IP is hop 2, dont want that out there at the moment :P

The high pings were me a moment ago doing a speedtest.net during the upload test.

Nope, second hop isn't your external IP address. Those IP addresses are allocated on the Telkom network to the various exchanges to route over the ISP network. It's Telkom's network, our IP addresses, but not your external IP at all.

Also, running a speedtest won't result in massive latency increases on hop 2, unless the exchange/network card/port has problems. If running a speedtest results in massive latency increases, it means the exchange/card can't handle your throughput at that time properly. So your few Mbps is pushing the network card over its available capacity at the time.

i.e. congested.

My D3 issues stem from the same packet loss. This has been an ongoing problem for over a week for me.

On the pathping results, I see it happening on the CPT node. I have been in communication with Shaun and they are looking in to it. We just have to be patient (hopefully not too long!).

Probably not the same issue at all, as the routing is different for the servers you're connecting to. Your issue has been escalated properly to the relevant network engineers. Going to drop you a PM or support mail soon, but as I said via PM, I want solid info from them rather than "iffy" info before I pass it on. :)

Is this more clear, perhaps?

I'm looking forward to my update tomorrow on my apparent congestion issues. My internet experience last night was absolutely abysmal (and I want fingers pointed and wagged in the appropriate directions ASAP).

If it is simply an issue of congestion, is this something that can in fact be dealt with, somehow?

I tried to get them to tar and feather the appropriate people...

But got told the BCEA doesn't allow it :(

I can maybe just add that I did the same test with 3 different ISPs and only CW indicated packet loss.

Please send that to support and I'll add it to the escalation. The more the better. Please also indicate what DNS you used when you ran it.

Many thanks. Got 2 days leave from tomorrow, I fully intend to do as little as possible, other than game :P Would be very nice to do that on CW than on my dwindling trial accounts. You guys do realise that ISPs don't get public holidays, right? :P

It's quite a process. We essentially setup a system where we bug them at least once a day until they agree to fix it.

Tell me about it. :(

10am to 5pm though.

Haven't been here for a while, do we have a way of checking our usage yet without bugging support?, news server speeds also seem alarmingly slow, is there a notification I may have missed?

Eishness, I feel your pain, I usually work public holidays too. But you didn't have to cut throughput to my account! (No for realz, it's not working).

I can has internetz back pls?
Currently posting from a trial account, so all is good on my side. And yes, I power cycled the router before testing. Going to contact live support as well.

Your connection should be sorted. Picked up the issue and resolved. :)

What exactly is the problem with Crystal Web in the Eastern Cape. And how and when will it be resolved?

There is a routing issue and the fix should be in soon. Trying to get specific ETA. It's not crippling or anything, but is resulting in packet loss in some areas in the Eastern Cape.
