Crystal Web (NEW ISP) ADSL Feedback

It's sad to say this but this is one area CW have dropped the ball. When I first signed up packet loss was bad in League of Legends, then it seemed to get sorted out, and now it's back to being bad again.

Still plan to make a video demonstrating packet loss on CW compared to other ISPs for international gaming. Local is 100%, but international is laggy and packets get dropped regularly.

My suggestion is to use another ISP (I've got a free 1 gig WA and 4 gig AH account) for gaming if you can dial out with multiple accounts.

We're looking into the reports of packet loss on gaming. There are some upgrades planned and if we can identify the issue we can look at resolving any problems there. :)

To be honest, I'm not very familiar with the service myself. VPN is prioritised once shaped, but on condition that we recognise the VPN on the shaper. If we don't and something goes awry, you can contact us and we'll make the changes to recognise the service properly though.

Thanks for the reply.

I haven't had any issues with online gaming for quite some time on CW. I play both swtor and eso extensively.

Any League of Legends players?
What kinda ping do you get? and on which package are you?

I stay in George - Western Cape.

Thanks for the heads up. Since I've got some extra time tomorrow I'm going to do some testing which I'll record and upload to youtube for you guys. Unfortunately I can't do tracerts or anything to the actual game servers.

I play LoL on EUW. Currently things are iffy (packet loss).

@CW

Has support email address changed?

I forwarded a mail I've sent this morning at 9am...

Shaun/Paul, this may be of interest for you.

I put on a tracert this morning before I left and these are the results:
cw_mybb_trace.png

As you can see, there is some serious packet-loss occurring between your jhb and cpt nodes, specifically that 196.6.121.238 bit.

Send out the techs with some duct tape to wherever that piece of networking equipment is!!

Appreciate the feedback.

Why've you blacked out hop 2? Doesn't look like a local network address based on the third hop IP address, so it's your exchange.

Check the max ping times there - 1000ms+ - you'll need to sort that out before any of the resultant hops become of any technical use to us, as it's likely the cause of massive packet loss. Id' suggest you organise a port reset there asap as a first option. If that doesn't work, ask Telkom to go buy some duct-tape and send a tech.

My D3 issues stem from the same packet loss. This has been an ongoing problem for over a week for me.

On the pathping results, I see it happening on the CPT node. I have been in communication with Shaun and they are looking in to it. We just have to be patient (hopefully not too long!).

My external IP is hop 2, dont want that out there at the moment :P

The high pings were me a moment ago doing a speedtest.net during the upload test.
