Crystal Web (NEW ISP) ADSL Feedback

Did a couple of Http downloads this morning and it wasn't great.
It would start of at 430kB/s and then gradually slowdown.(4Mbps line) It is now sitting at 80kB/s. (Plex media server update.)
Same happened to a 90MB YouTube clip I downloaded.

I hope this part of the Link problem, as this acts like a capacity issue?

I asked about the same thing, as using the normal 4 connection on IDM did the same full speed for 30 seconds then slow nose dive, but using 8 or 16 connection kept it at full speed. So the link issue affects mostly single threaded downloads like YouTube and Twitch that aren't cached locally.

So I'm holding all judgement on how the account runs until they fix the link issue.

Local and international web pages opening very slowly?

Edit:
Back to normal again

I find CS:GO gaming pings to be lower on CW than AH.

I don't game on international servers much though.

Their local latencies are generally lower than all the other ISPs I've been with. Heck in same cases my local pings have been halved.

Watched a bit of highlights on SuperSport and it started off a bit shaky, but settled after about 30 seconds and have been rock solid for the 15 minutes or so that I watched.

Streaming Twitch at source quality perfectly. This is the first... ever.

Been doing basically the same thing :P
Using jdownloader with 2 active downloads and 5 connections each

EDIT: btw i had to swap to a backup isp to update my java...not a massive problem as it wasnt a big download in the first place :P

@ambroseg1, my results with those two tests are strikingly similar at the moment as well. I'm also getting about 10-20% packet loss on international connections. This is already a well known issue though. Hopefully when the new infrastructure is installed we should see more consistency and increased speeds, especially download wise :) Looking forward to seeing how it operates when everything is in full swing.

Otherwise though, YouTube streaming has been great :D

Hi Ambrose,

Support has been in touch with you a few times on this issue and unfortunately in every tracert your exchange is absolutely congested to the hilts. This is not a Crystal Web issue at all. I wish there was more that we could do for you, but your exchange is massively congested.

What you're seeing further down the trace is not packet loss caused by our international issue but packet loss caused by your exchange.

We have suggested that this be reported to Telkom and have offered to do so for you. Please let our support team know if you'd like us to do this on your behalf.

Some strange behaviour on the news server. Auth issues likely. I can connect and it runs for a bit, then fails due to auth issues. It is 15 connections right?

Yes. Last night there were some issues which were resolved bu there may be some residual problems today. Just drop your concurrent to 10 for the time being if you have issues.

cool, will give that a try for now. aware of the issues, I had Paul log the fault with the news provider :D

Confirmed there are occasional authentication issues that are being worked on and should be resolved by tomorrow during the day.

Greetings

I'm quite sure this must have been mentioned previously in the thread but just can't seem to find it. Can someone please drop me the details for the news server that CW uses?

Thanks!

What is the indicating factors of a congested exchange?

And I am back to 2MB connecting it seems. Will a port reset help?

Second and third hop in most networks - anything above 15ms can indicate problems at the exchange.
