nope, youtube caches a lot of content locally but you certainly don't find all youtube content cached locally all over the worldAll youtube traffic is supposed to be cached locally is it not?
I presume they only cache content based on view count and certain channels. There is over a billion videos on youtube!
I know mweb has a youtube cache, so I presume cw gets the content through peering through cybersmart. Google also moved from cinx to jinx so I presume there is also a google cache in jhbWould be interesting to know how the CDN works, technically.
IE, if you request an uncached video, are you redirected to a CDN node that has it, or does your local CDN node retrieve it from somewhere?
And if the 2nd case, maybe the issue is an overloaded inter-CDN-node network?

we do, there has been a few instances - I think, but haven't made sure of this, that in all instances there are two common denominators: use of an alternate DNS service (unotelly for example) and the subscriber being in outside of one of the massive 3 (PE, Bfn and EL are metros but ....)This was kind of my point.
Google has set up Google Global Cache (GGC) servers in South Africa.
Does CW not utilize these Global Caches?

I just want some feedback from Crystal Web users, I need to know how good the youtube streaming is, and how bad the shaping gets during the day on a 2Meg line?
Backstory:
I recently moved home , I had a 4 meg line and the Bolton uncapped option, but the new place is too far from the exchange and syncs at less than 3 meg , so I am considering downgrading to a 2meg line, then getting full uncapped either from Crystal Web. I absolutely love the service I have gotten from @lantic, but for the money I really miss my throughput and might be able to make up for it by going the full uncapped rout and having my downloads finish a few hours after 6 (like finish at 10) to make up for the slow line.
Routing is changing and hopefully not on the new IP range. Will be able to update later today.May I ask, is the mail from the 16th still valid?
