Excuse my ignorance, but my understanding of the email is that this offer is only for current uncapped users, who will now be unshaped on all protocols.
Or does this mean that us capped users will temporarily also move to an uncapped account.

Cheers

Especially when you get home with something new and say to her, but I told you about it. Remember? LOL.

Oh we all get that....

But don't you DARE try and do the reverse to her... the world is not a small enough place to hide.

Aaaaahhh, So you also get one of those every now and again. Thought I was the only one.

You okes have it easy. Remember that hot teacher at school who could cow the entire class with a glance?
I married her.

You should never have put a ring on it :p

Confession101: I get beaten in my sleep a lot! I really don't know what she's dreaming about, but damn she kicks like a horse and hits like a boxer!

4Mbps, Eastern Cape

Not impressed with the current performance on the 41 IP range.
Took 18 minutes to download a 30MB update onn my Playstation.
The line is so slow that my Playstation fails attempted speedtests.
When trying to open a lobby for my game, the race quality is automatically set to "Low quality", the lowest out of possible 5 settings.

Speedtests are generally very bad. Upload speed is especially horrific.
Ping to Cape Town runs between 48 and 88ms, instead of 20 - 28ms
10% packet loss with huge jitter

plus my account had been hacked despite using firewalls and antivirus apps. around 180gb before I've discovered it on the 3rd of August. never happened before as all my other accounts are locked to a single phone line.

Please can you send me your username by PM as this needs to be thoroughly investigated on our end.

It's a pleasure.

The thing is, capacity costs a small fortune in this day and age for unshaped, so we looked at usage patterns over all accounts and scaled our capacity accordingly for this. If users change their usage patterns now irresponsibly, there will inevitably be issues.

This is what we've said about uncapped, unshaped in the past. Here in SA, it is expensive - there's no beating around the bush on that one, so to make it affordable it tends to be a highly contended product instead - we'd like to see if this is going to be the case moving forward or if we can manage it better for customers instead.

But the bottom line is that if customers now decide to go to town on their accounts, we'll be left with no choice but to cancel the unshaped experience, but we have faith that customers will use the net responsibly instead.

Any chance you can make graphs of IPC/international bandwidth available so we can manage our scheduled downloading to have least impact?

Without the customer portal yet it's not really feasible. There are also some legal considerations here as well. We are still looking at introducing this sort of thing into the customer portal though at some point for true transparency.

Sure understood.

Maybe something as simple as webpage showing recommended times for download scheduling - that you can update dynamically as you get a handle on usage patterns?

That could actually be a nice thing then I would happily go and modify the schedulers I run to match those times.

I would imagine capped users are already unshaped?

Why would they give you uncapped when you have paid for a set amount of gigs?

Also, that was an awesome email. Gave me chills, it was electrifying.

I'd actually prefer that customers continue with their current usage patterns and we ensure as little external interference as possible for the time being, so that we can extrapolate from the data. Bottom line is overall usage for now needs to remain where it's been over the past while, and we ask that users not decide to go "download the internet" for now.

We'll then hopefully use this sort of transparency in the future for users to help us to manage the network in the most efficient manner.
