I thought they payed by the MB/s throughput?A ISP still pays by the GB, being capped or uncapped?

if Telkom changed from Mbps to MB/s while keeping the pricing the same - we'd be very very happy -- as would our customersI thought they payed by the MB/s throughput?
I'll never send an email starting with "hey mofo" it will have to be "Dear Mofo" and thats only if I can't establish the preferred title "Dear Dr Mofo" ....
Nope. Some may, we pay per Mbps - raw capacity. Which is why peak and off-peak times are critical.
You lost me in the first sentence. I don't know what put.io is, but I get what you say from there on. For me it is simple. If I can do up to about 350 - 400GB month I'm happy. I've never done 350GB, but I would like to have that safety for a 4Mbps line if I need it.
My Http speed needs for day hours are 100% legit. I'm not sure what the put.io does, but I assume it by passes P2P downloads? I already download P2P and Nttp from 00:00 - 06:00, so I don't have an issue with that.
So that is why I made my original statement regarding httpat line speed during business hours.
I am an honest user with a very active household with regards to downloads and gaming. By honest, I mean that I don't try to bypass or hide what I'm downloading.
My usage is close to 250GB per month, but I don't try to bypass anything and most of it is done in the ghost hours. The only streaming I do are YouTube clips and occasional SS games.
I understand what you are saying regarding expenses and buy into it.
All I'm saying is that I hope you guys have a profile where I can fit, without buying a super expensive business account.
Depends what you classify as entry level? if its mweb then yes i agree, if its telkom......they actually wouldn't cut me off with my current usage.which slasherjdc should never be on![]()
doesn't make a difference if they call it 1MB/s or 8mb/s that's why i didn't bother lifting shift keyif Telkom changed from Mbps to MB/s while keeping the pricing the same - we'd be very very happy -- as would our customers
if thats entry level then every isp is scamming the masses......even a heavy "browser" shouldnt ever reach 10gb....Actually 1 megabyte isn't exactly the same thing as 8 megabits .... but for practical purposes we can take byte and octet as synonymous ...
Entry level for us is a user who is focused on browsing type purposes ... We have very few entry level users at the moment

it can also be 7 bits technicallyI wouldn't say every ISP is scamming the masses ...
there is also a dynamic concerning limited usage that is quite interesting as well - because of entry costs relating to access - in that mobile is cheaper on really low volume
O and the 1000 vs 1024 relates to SI issues - so kibi and kilo
what I am referring to is that a byte isn't necessarily 8 bits - an octet is 8 bits but a byte can be a different number of bits
so while a kibibyte pretty much will have 1024 bytes of 8 bits a kilobyte with 1000 bytes of 12 bits is quite possible
you cant change the definition of a gigabit regardless of how many bits they have per byte.....gigabits per second is always 1billion bits per second(doubt anyone cares though)something like that ....
the point though is that the provision is done on a bit basis - and it would be nice if we could have bitstream (at a decent price)

we have a few - but would like a lot more
if every one of our customers brought us one light user we'd be most grateful![]()

I'm one of the light users it seems.
18.4 GB so far
I use my internet freely though so I can't complain.

33.4GB here, and scary thing is it's all streams.
