That is a kick ass site.
Things stream so well from there.
Even when I was with Telkom and the line ran like dog shyte, G2G still worked.

Which is why I was a bit perplexed last night that 360p buffered.

Man that is fast, awesome. Love the countdown to next episode.

So.... I suppose no news is good news? :D

Still analysing the data from the survey. Overall customers want uncapped, unshaped, or at least unshaped during their "window" of use (expected). Overall customers are prepared to pay on average about 50% less than the cheapest product currently on the market for this though (sigh). Overall customers in general want capped products at around 40% cheaper than the cheapest currently on the market (sigh).

So we're trying to balance pricing, product performance, and expectation now.

lol

results were as expected ;)

NB - when I put in the price I was prepared to pay, I EXCLUDED adsl line rental. Your survey may have been a little ambiguous in that regard. Did you mean bundled price?

Data only price was what we were after there.

What I did was reference Afrihost capped, unshaped data and added a markup.
Because that is essentially what I am using CW for.
Uncapped doesn't seem to really be necessary for me anymore as I don't bother with downloads at all anymore.

I had guessed there would be real cheap prices coming in.
Now that I actually did the calculation, I realise I was actually one of them on the capped side :( My apologies.

This is why we wanted to see who was interested in capped products as well. There are a few good reasons why most ISPs are pushing towards capped over uncapped, but we're not fans of the way some of them are doing it. Uncapped accounts shouldn't stop working essentially because you want to force customers over - there's still a massive demand for good quality uncapped accounts tailored for your needs. Knowing how and when you intend to use your uncapped account makes it easier for us to put together the right products.

Quite a few suggested a price that equates to around 30c per gig. Some people are either not aware of actual costings in the market, which is perfectly reasonable, or have very unrealistic expectations.

Agreed. Please no shaped or throttled capped accounts, that is just not on imho.

:edit

Meh, read capped not uncapped. lol.

I think I ended at around R1 a gig when I did the survey.... cos I think that is slightly above fair value when it comes to capped products. Can't remember the number I put for uncapped though.

In terms of actual costs though, this is hundreds of percent below real world costs to an ISP. Just the cost of raw IPC alone is far more than that already. Now add all other costs, expenses, and try to make a margin. :p
