Do we still need to switch to that new account in the e-mail even if we are on the unshaped account?

Which email?

We created the separate accounts in case your rollover wasn't successful on the system. So if you have an issue after your unshaped allocation then use the new details - if not, ignore them.

I have never done this tbh, but since you mentioned it I want to figure it out aswell lol. My guess is a route will also be added pointing to the net and so. Wish i could find a job where I have to work with Mikrotik all day, just love it.

Well I reckon I might be a bit of a test bench for this type of setup... :)

I am also contemplating seperating out my media network as well.. but that is a future(ish) plan for the house once I've done more of the renovations and cabling and such.

Customers in the Eastern Cape, could you please do a power cycle and report to our support desk if you're still experiencing issues. Some upgrades were performed and things should be looking better for you guys.
I have done the power cycle thing. As far as I can see everything seems good.

What should we look out for?

Edit:
Watching cricket via SS and it is very stop/start.
Not sure if it was like this before the power cycle though, so I'm, not sure if it ISP or SS related.

Are any of you watching the cricket via SS out side of the EC borders?
My feed is very rough.
Lots of little stop and starts.

As you can see, a very choppy feed.

SS streaming is a dodgy service at the best of times! Difficult to know where issues reside but the last place I'd look is the ISP!

I logged in quick to give some feedback! Feed is jumping between "SD" and "HD" but stuck on "SD" for now... Fairly stable and smooth on "SD"... I'm in JHB...

That's exactly the way their service streams. As DJ I moaned about this for years.

If you could understand my frustration at this nonsense you'd realise how it affects me. It has always had issues in the performance area and it does not stream a full feed to you.

Thx for the feedback.

I'm aware of SS and their antics, but it does work well most of the time for me and because we had some upgrades in the EC this morning, I checked the SS feed and it is not on par with what I experienced in the last few weeks.

That is why I'm asking for the experiences outside of the EC.

Hence why we're currently having some issues. We did this at no cost to you guys for this month and use the line sync speed to allocate an allowed speed on the throughput, but we change this around once we add the shaping policies and this process isn't 100% yet.

It's also proving difficult to do the switch at exactly the allocation, so it sometimes adds the correct tags just before and sometimes just after. This issue may prove slightly tough to perfect and may take weeks of trial and error, so while it won't delay anything, the data it sends to you may be off by about 20min.

Just to clarify, is having the 100gb unshaped allocation running at full line speed just for this month? Or will it be like that in the future?

Hahaha.
Ja, maybe I should have friendly chat with Marietjie.
:D

Like sand_man said, I would normally look at other places than CW, but because you asked us in the EC to look out for performance issues I asked the question.

I'm averaging about 100kB/s on that SS stream atm, with lows of 30kkB/s and highs at 170kB/s.
I've even switched off my QoS to test and it yielded no improvement.

We should also be getting the new wholesale pricing on 20Mbps and 40Mbps DSL lines soon. When the new pricing comes in we'll pass that saving down to you guys,

CW have you considered a tiered referral system?

I know you get R10 off every referral, but what about getting Rx off someone who is referred and signs up for a 2Mbps account, compared to someone who is referred and signs up for a 40Mbps account.

Just an idea. Don't know if it even would make sense.
(As i would assume you want us all to be sending you the guys who want 1Mbps and 2Mbps accounts and not the 40Mbps guys)

We absolutely want the 40Mbps customers. The faster the better! The more you send, and the more you upgrade, the more negotiating power we have on our input costs side and the more cool things we can do for you.

We may introduce this, actually. Not a bad idea at all. Right now it's a manual process to reconcile the codes to a user so it's not much harder, but as we automated it building the logic may become tricky, as a customer can downgrade at any point or upgrade and we'd have to adjust the referral discount at that point as well. But a good idea. We'll talk to the developers and see what's possible on this front.

CW : sending someone to your live chat site to discuss ADSL stuff, they got gatvol with Afrihost and cancelled so need a replacement :)

Not quite mom and pop type user, but nowhere near a power user either.....

Thanks TB. Remember your referral code. ;)
