In some random cases people who torrent for instance. Like I have every device in my home on a up and down qos script. All of them were calm meaning this is a external IP using my upload bandwidth for his own purposes.

Tracing route to jnb01s07-in-f3.1e100.net [74.125.233.3]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

1 1 ms 1 ms 1 ms 192.168.1.254

6 1498 ms 1520 ms 1783 ms jnb01s07-in-f3.1e100.net [74.125.233.3]

Trace complete.

Look how insane my second hop is, that IP is hammering my IP with multiple connections, yet 3 devices in my household is still able to stream Netflix flawlessly.

Your Afrihost uses a different IP than CW. My bet is if you ask CW to renew your IP the problem will be gone.

Well, my local speeds are fine on CW. Just my international that has gone from it's usual 180-200 ms to 280-300 ms. Only thing that might be different is that I've already used 100 unshaped gigs and now I'm on their 2nd/3rd tier system.

I don't have time to do the whole live support thing, but D3 is borked again tonight.

Once again, a free trial has bailed me out! I know, I know, help me to help you but when you have a party of friends wanting to play, playing the support game right now doesn't work for me :P

Please use our support channels. We'll be able to test and answer these questions far more efficiently from our official support channels rather than from mybroadband. From here, we can't really do anything relating to your account or current experience. I know other reps from other companies have created this culture of having people PM them info and supporting like that, but 1) it's highly insecure, 2) it's highly inefficient, and 3) management look after the mybroadband forums until we're comfortable to let someone loose on here.

The problem is that unless we can get proper test results of the issues, we can't do much. If you ran a tracert when it happened and sent it via email we'd have a record and would be able to then look into it for you. Contrary to popular belief, tracerts don't only help us rule out line problems - they're essential to knowing the route being taken to a specific server you're having issues with and isolating the specific problems. It may be geographically isolated, or routing related to the area, or a sign of an issue on one of the network links in your specific area, or an unlikely issue with the account, or a dozen other reasons.

Knowing that D3 is an issue at the moment helps only to know that D3 is problematic. It doesn't answer the question of why. Without the latter, we're flying blind until we can employ people to play various games in various parts of the country at all times, and to stream from every service. It's not really plausible, so we rely heavily on results sent by you to us to diagnose any problems.

// fires up satan III

I'll check if its all fine and dandy in hell.

Support now has my tracerts for my CW and Afrihost accounts. Hopefully you guys can pinpoint the problem soon.

After reading this it got me thinking. Get people in all areas of the country, give them a copy of D3 etc... and if this issue arises then let them test. Just a idea though. :) But yeah regarding my previous posts about the upload thing, I missed a device in my house that my wife stuck a SD card in and started to upload photo's to Google+. Thought it was the same situation as before and jumped the gun lol. Blonde moment. But yeah my point in this, while she uploaded my ping was crap, so people with pick and pay routers wont know if their line is truly faulty or if there is something pushing crazy data. You might know with your tools though. :)

It's not the shaper. Had a few reports the last two nights from multiple account types, but we're seeing a few similarities in the data which points to it being localised issues.

Keep this localized issues away from me :erm:

I need my diablo3-me-time :D

Ok, friends are offline, switching accounts and will see if the issue is still persisting.

Will run tracert's and pop it in an email.

Trust me, I would rather not have to switch to a backup trial account to get my game on. But it is also rude for me to have people sit around while I run network tests when a more immediate solution is at hand.

From what I can tell, there is something up with CW mainly for me. Pings will average 180ms to 600ms. Gameplay will be slightly rubber bandy. This indicates packet loss of some sorts. Occasionally, latency will shoot up in to the thousands. This will settle after a few minutes.

Edit: Of course, now that I want to test, it seems stable at 220ms. Will crack at it tomorrow if it happens again, will fire up a tracert before switching out (if need be).

1 times Mikrotik
Look at interface traffic, see isp interface is loaded
See it's wifi generating traffic
Turn on accounting, take snapshot, identify local ip causing it
Apply firewall rule

I don't need one of them fancy shmansy routers to know that D3 and TS are the only things generating traffic, all other devices are off. It's also pretty evident from switching ISP accounts that the problem is not my line or internal network. I am on uncapped unshaped, gaming traffic really shouldn't be an issue.

Your symptoms look familiar to me. Had similar issues on my previous ISP. Latency spikes that would resolve after changing accounts on the router. After days (weeks) of diagnostics by the ISP, Telkom and me, it turned out that the issue was coming from inside my network. Tablets and smartphones, even when in "sleep" mode were synching via wifi. Switching off wifi on the devices miraculously cured the latency issue. Switching accounts on the router also sorted it out as the devices stopped synching when the connection was broken. They'd eventually start their synching if left idle for long enough, though.

Not saying it's the same as your problem, or defending CW. The symptoms just look really familiar to me, and maybe my story may be useful to help you sorting the issue out.

Connected to router by wifi or cable?

Me? Cable. Wifi off on every other device.
I was at home yesterday and had intermittent issues the whole day, which were still tolerable. Once the evening hit, started getting heavy spikes.
I will endeavour to run dem traceroutes and do the live support thing tonight if the issue rears it's ugly head once again.
