Valorant is an arcade shooter cosplaying as a competitive FPS.

Watching the Twitch people play the game, the shooting mechanics do have some equivalents to CS 1.6 which I believe is what Riot on purpose implemented because there is a big community who liked 1.6 more so than GO.

Warowl did a good comparison video,

My gripe is bloom, RNG has no place in a competitive FPS game, even blerrie COD has 100% everytime recoil patterns these days.

So essentially an easy mode of CSGO

Go tell that to the 1.6 community. On an e-sports level, Valorant will compete with CS, and this isn't about who has the best FPS e-sports title but who has the most attractive e-sports title. The more attractive the more lucrative the sponsorships. Riot has a clear plan here.

Then, thanks to Riot Valve have started to appropriately patch their title. Go look at the patch notes, it isn't a coincidence and they will need to do something to bring back the '1.6' player base. All this is powering the Steam Community Marketplace.

You want a real shooter, go play Tarkov. I am surprised that the Tarkov devs haven't introduced some arena type mode, yet...

North and Faze was tight, but Faze turned godlike and took it. DIG currently crunching it to go OT, this Heretics team is a bit too good though. These French players are a bit odd, 3 players punching way above their average stats.

A bit sad that DIG lost to Heretics. These competitions need to be played on LAN, even in the stream, you can notice lags with these online comps. DIG also had players disconnect at times.

DIG plays NiP tomorrow.

Yes and no. No doubt there is a market for Valorant, but it isn't exactly a replacement for CSGO, by no means. Its way too casual to fill the shoes of CSGO.

Valve seems to be on the way with the Source 2 version of CSGO, so its not just Valorant that is putting pressure on CSGO, it was inevitable to get CSGO converted to use Source 2. Hopefully the change to Source 2 brings some good things to the game.

What is Source 2 going to change exactly, the gameplay?

For the most part Source 2 will serve as a placebo. Many things in-game will stay unchanged. Source 2, however, will bring more support into the game engine.

I would like to see an invitational team made up with the 5 best carries, it will be chaos. Simple doesn't carry that hard anymore, it is pretty much said as such in the video, but Navi now is pretty much the godlike squad.

I don't believe DIG is going to entertain these NiP old boys much longer. The squad is going be revamped once things normalise in the scene.

NiP obliterated them. Get Right had a very good game. Friberg sucked.

Still not the Astralis from last year. Given they had a slump before going and winning the second major last year.

Navi is too good at the moment. It sucks that they cannot compete on LAN, but the situation is what it is at the moment.

According to the world rankings:

1. Navi
2. Astralis
3. G2
4. Mousesports
5. Fnatic

Tough competition, and then there is Valve who is hamstringing their very own league with double standards and poor competitive rules. Time to reunite the Brazilians.

From the recent meta changes I have noted that close to no pro is playing with the Krieg, Aug and M4A1-S. Tec-9s and Five-seveNs FTW. Mac-10s and UMPs. AWPs and Scouts. Occasional situational shotties.

Deagles, always Deagles.

Many weapons in the game now which serves little to no purpose other than to be used in casual. The Krieg, Aug and M4A1-S need more work or uniqueness. Since we have an active community marketplace with skins galore in inventories, they cannot scale the arsenal down.

Valorant still being in closed-Beta, they have announced ranks, leagues amongst other things. Closed pro-competitive matches have also started today, the Valorant Charity Invitational.
