CSGO Sticky thread

Just got kicked from my first game after 171 hours, had a guy rage quit and got called a hacker a couple of weeks back, am I officially in the club yet?

how do you guys stay motivated , i have been trying to get much better , to get into the pro-scene , but , i have accepted fate , and realized there is always someone better , no matter how hard you try , no matter how hard you practice , what is the point even , i havent played cs for days , i just feel im wasting focus and energy on something i will never get better at , at first i was hopeful , and was willing to give it my all

I think you are just missing one thing; the way you practice.

Aim is important yes so keep that up but if you are playing FFA and match making games... you will never make it to the next level.

Knowledge is one of the most important ways to make yourself better than the other guy.
Do you know every grenade angle breach on the competitive maps.
Do you know how to stop rushes.
Are you better with pistols/snipers/rifles - play to your strengths with these.
You must know every spot where the enemy sits and the best way to kill the person at that spot (e.g crouching as soon as you breach a certain door is better than running etc.)
The sound distances of footsteps and tracking using sound.
Can you beat someone when it comes to defending a bomb/defusing a bomb.
Watch games from the top teams, study their movements, their spray handling, their tactics etc.

These are just a few of the aspects which will make you a better player, you will need to practice this stuff with buddy or clan where you can just drill it over and over and over. Trust me, becoming pro is not easy, requires more work than a full time job TBH.

hmm , thanks man , i did join a clan , but jeez are they the most useful team in the world i tried to get them to show me all these things , i usually soloq , but MM is toxic af , i have been doing alot of research , watched alot of streams and vids , always watch international comps , these other positioning like you said with crouching , yeah , these small things i need to learn, i know alot of nade spots , i just got use to the AK47 , i have spent hours shooting a wall getting to know the spray pattern , but then it changed recently right ? , i have played pickups only 2 times , it was scary , so not gonan try until i am more confident , i just need to get my mindset right , get a new clan , or someone that can assist me and teach me lel , i put in at least 6 hours a day , i know its not much , but i have other responsibilites as well , i have some map awareness , i just need to stop this soloq MM , its not doing me any good , i have gotten tired of all the smurfs and trolls , think that is what made me get all depressed and salty , from my 6 hours a day , to 1 or 2 deathmatch games this past few days , so idk

Also i am not very consistant with the weapons , one day i am good at rifling , next day i am good at sniping , do not know how to get more consistant with that

Try get in with one of the top 5/10 clans in the country, ask them to take you on just as a trainee or something, just so you can scrum with them and stuff. That would be the fastest way to learn. GL Mate, CS is easy to play but difficult to master :D

Haha thanks man , really appreciate it , i guess i will have to play more pickups , and its at least 128 tick

Which sites can I use if I want to sell my skins for real money? My inventory is probably worth about R2000.

Finally giving up on this game :(

If you haven't given up on steam games yet, keep the skins. You'll get more steam wallet funds for it than you would selling it on a 3rd party site. I've seen skins selling for half the market price. And with the rand dipping so fast, it's worth more on steam. If that makes sense.

Regarding the new ranking system, I can't find decent matchmaking games any more. Most people are just trolling and smurfing now. Deliberately deranking to go to silver.

The new system is strange… LE dropped to MGE and we won the match. I’m stuck on MGE, now I am in the same bubble as you. I know two TGE players which had dropped to LE winning three games in succession.

I don't really mind the new ranking system, I've stopped caring (trying very hard to at least) about my rank every since I realized that I WILL get a stroke one of these days, raging all the time. What bothers me is other people deliberately ruining games. CS:GO just isn't as fun as it used to be.

Wouldn't it be better now that the kids have gone back to school?

I get home after 15:00. School kids are home at that time, so not really. I played 3 games yesterday. Won two, mostly because some/most of the opponents were smurfing/grieving. Lost one, mostly because my team members were smurfing/grieving. It's really hard to get a decent game now.

I thought this is the year I start playing competitive but if people are just messing around I'll stick to arms race.

It's just got worse since the rank adjustments; people can't comprehend the changes, they just want to rank up all the time.
Now that lots of players who thought they were pro at MG and similar, are deranking to Nova or silver, they feel cheated and as such they are taking it out on Valve.
The only issue is, they can't get to Valve so they believe that Valve have f-cked them over so now they will do the same.
Problem is, they just smurf and derank now which was their biggest gripes before.
So the game has come full circle now.

Tbh, you should play Comp if you want to.
Go play Bilosoft Pickups rather, you'll enjoy it as the players there are all pretty good.

I've never played a comp game since owning CS:GO, I probably won't run into the issues you mention. What are pickup games or pickup servers, are they just community run servers instead of the Valve run match making servers?

Community run 128 tick match making servers.
But if you haven't played comp they may be too good for you. (no insult meant)

Tbh, unless you are DMG or above and often even DMG, you will face smurfs and derankers now.
It's what people are doing now to feel better about their declining rank.

They choose to not improve but rather to blame Valve's system.
If you were playing comp 2 years back then most people know the ranks were at a similar difficulty to the way they are now.
Making LE/LEM, etc actually meant something and Silvers were literally silvers rather than GE smurfs.

In other news. Phoenix case prices are going up pretty quick now, thanks to the weakening rand. Has anyone seen a phoenix case drop recently? Is it finally discontinued?

Very glad I bought 1000+ when it was still R0.36 each.
