CSGO Sticky thread

For AMD users, a new driver is out that addresses the shader compilation hitches.
They took their time. I am curious whether it will improve the flow of my game. There is nothing like going into a direction only to keep on drifting from a stutter.

To me, from a perspective of fluidity, it feels very similar to the previous 64 tick system, with the only difference being that the server now serves as the ultimate authority for sub-tick events. I haven’t played all too much on 128 tick servers, so I can’t draw any comparative conclusions. The mouse sensitivity is still too high for me, even after adjusting it to a lower level it just feels accelerated. My sensitivity is extremely low. What is different is the bobbing they have now hard-coded, and I think this is what gives many a different feel from the old game. As far as I understand, the mouse is now always set to RAW input, but I haven't seen this to be a proved case.

I only hope that Valve is taking this seriously. Players with a ping of 0-1ms have a clear advantage over all other players in terms of timing and placement. Yesterday, when I played a match on Inferno, I often got attacked by enemies on the B-site from the CT coverage area before I even realised they entered the site. It feels like being fired before even seeing the enemy because the server is ahead of your client. If a death is recorded before you can react, you experience what many are complaining about: delay and peekers advantage.

If it favours your enemy at times, it will favour you at times too. Just note what is experienced on your screen, or that what you observe, is not the same as determined by the server. I am confused by Valve's belief that their tick-rate-independent gameplay system is not only revolutionary, but also superior to 128 tick.

Then I have unexplainable loss too which I don't experience in any other game but on Valve's official matchmaking servers. One instance differs from the other. Again, if I am having this issue, then others must too.

I am starting to think that Valve disabled CSTV and demos so that people don't compare it to streams for scrutiny :whistling:

If you have your console enabled, you can see prompts where ticks are adjusted for the client in real-time.

As said, everyone is exposed to these issues. Fixing issues will enhance the experience, but it won't automatically make someone a better player. However, it will improve player consistency, which is currently lacking.

It makes one wonder if the CS2 devs even play the game themselves, online.
I have always been a predominantly casual player. Not only with CS but with all games.

I do play comp sometimes but the ranking has never bothered me. I play comp for the experience of really working as a team. I doubt a name change and a graphical overhaul will change my experience.

I do miss toggling the console for damage stats though. Sometimes you end in a skirmish and get killed by a 3rd party while you were dueling with someone else and there is no way to see how much you dinked them.

It shows those stats at the end of the round....?

Yes I had the same complaint and learnt that it is those numbers that appear under the pics at the end of the round
But it would be cool to know the names as well not just the pics. Having those stats attached to names, gives me more information, as to where players like to play, how early they rush, nade and molly damage, it helps to plan a little for the next round, if I need to delay throwing molly or nades a little ect. I am quite a heavy utility user, most of my damage I do is from that, which is why I have a generally higher assist than average.

Will see how things go today, may play a little later, last night was horrible, had to mute the entire lobby, kids, and a few sus players. Weekends in general sucks lately.

I agree with all those things - I like to know who I killed or died to, so I can see if they go there again and if the same thing happens.

Last night was bad. Played my first two Premier games and lost both. We were just against better people but I was being stupid. I blame end of the week fatigue
I have Ingress FS today but will play tonight most likely

To be fair, playing the game with complete randoms isn't it these days. Always better to have a 5 stack sadly. Even CSGO had this issue. MM was unplayable solo queue towards the end, I tried on an alt, but I just gave up eventually after deranking hard and getting tired of getting baited

It seems there are a lot more cheaters in premier than comp and casual. But casual can some times be unplayable. As mentioned before there have been several instances of players, still selecting gear by the time half the team has been killed or being killed. Lots of new player with ZERO game sense, or making stupid mistakes, like smoking t-ramp instead of a molly on mirage. So I having to adjust my play style but holding back a bit and playing different angles compared to the ones I usually play when the team is actually able to select gear before the round starts.

It is going to take a few weeks to either weed out the noobs or they become accustom to the game. I am having a really hard time in comp and premier, especially with shots not registering, spray ect.

In other news a few maps are going to make their return soon whether they will make it into the official map pool remains to be seen. Would love to have cache back. Vertigo needs to die already, they can use that for scouts and knifes.

For AMD users, a new driver is out that addresses the shader compilation hitches.

I am going to hold back with this update and stick with 23.9.2. Just like with update 23.9.3, this driver hot patch breaks Adrenalin which has been an issue since 23.9.1, but now Adrenalin resets all the time. I see AMD say that it is an issue with some Windows 11 update. Not sure, but I am not updating until a WHQL approved 23.10.1 is rolled out.

I have installed this hotfix AMD driver now because since the latest CS patch my game crashes a lot. Just like before, there was an issue with audio loss followed by a crash, but it now happens very frequently. I haven't tried the game since updating the driver. If my game crashes are caused by the hitching, I hope this update will fix them.

Last night, it seemed like everyone who didn't live in the Western Cape and Eastern Cape was disconnected from the Steam servers. Lol, just one mass death ticker, followed by the occasional drop. After that all of my packet loss disappeared, but then as soon as players rejoined it resurfaced. Hmmmmm, some weird balancing act.

In any case, I will check later if AMD hit the nails in right.

I like Austin - still watching but it is entertaining
Language warning I guess

Haven't played csgo since like 2014-15 ish and haven't played much on PC recently but CS2 is making me want to hop back on. Can anyone give me a quick run down on local servers? Are there a good amount of noobs on sa servers so I can get my bearings quick?

Definitely. So many running around and not knowing what to do. You will be unnoticed :giggle:

I am going to take a bit of a break from CS until Valve can sort out its issues. My game keeps crashing after the last two updates. The game also has problems with hit registration, which I believe is related to the flow of packets between the client and the server. It seems that Subtick is rejecting certain packets for unknown reasons. I frequently receive console notifications informing me that my tick has been adjusted.

I tested some of the popular online games I have installed and none of them have this issue. I am curious to try Dota2, but eh... Everything is proper from the networking side of things.

Either the Valve servers are considering my connection as inferior or the hitching caused by AMD GPUs is creating problems. I tried my best last night to report this to Valve directly, as I think my game crashes may also have something to do with AMD.

In the last three AMD updates (incl. the hot fix), Adrenalin is also broken. Impossible to save profiles.

I had packet loss with CSGO, but it was nowhere as bad as with CS2.
