Hi Guys, Ok yesterday I posted that I would like to join the CTWUG. Last night I checked for AP's close to me and found an active one 300 meters away from my place. The line of sight is also pretty good. Now the question is what equipment should I get?

I just want to connect to the CTWUG at the moment so think the Client CPE kit should be efficient taking the distance between me and the AP.

There is also another few AP's in a 3 km distance from me. The big question now is if I buy this Client CPE kit, which one is recommended?

Please let me know if I'm on the right track so far and which kit is recommended.

who is the closest ap node to you with line of sight, have you emailed the administrator of that node yet. Contact details should be on wind.

Don't buy any equipment until you have contacted the nodes admin, you might be unlucky and the node is full then you have equipment and can't connect.

kewl, hope you get connected, I only joined up last week.

Your equipment will all depend on if you just want to be a client or if you plan on also becoming an AP at a later stage. If you plan to just be a client you can buy a cpe, and a decent antenna but if you wanna be an AP as well later the Mikrotik 433 is pretty kewl.

There are so many different options, but depending on if the AP you are connecting to is 5Ghz, 2.4Ghz the distance to the AP atc, that changes things a bit.
