When you see images like this you cannot believe that life does not exist elsewhere in the universe.

Facinating. The rocks and gravel looks like the ones you find on earth. I see conspiracy theorist having a magnifying glass up close to the screen.

Awesome. That shadow got me wondering how long a Martian day was, turns out it's pretty close to earth!

Yup, about a 40 minute difference. The guys driving/working on the rovers are currently living on Mars time, day go to work 40 minutes later each day regardless of what the Earth time is. Also if they swap between rovers (well this was more when Spirit was still running) they'd get the equivalent of Martian jet lag since the rovers were in different timezones.

Edit: Seems they use a 40 minute time difference.

Not sure if this has been posted.

It's a combination of different pics giving a high res full 360 degree view. I'm just trying to figure out where the mast for the camera is. You can see the shadow but not the mast :)

I dunno about anyone else but I am absolutely fascinated about this, being able to see the images of mars is just too awesome, I have always loved space, and find myself checking nasa's website everyday for updates, and also just all the mechanics that went into getting the rover to mars, can't imagine the amount of physics/math that went into that, and the fact that you can see, well what looks almost like a stream where water used to flow is also just too awesome, loving every moment of this.

someone maybe know why they black out some parts of images? Is it just so the files aren't as large so it gets sent back to earth quicker, so they just black out the what's not really of importance in the image?

No, those are files that haven't been downloaded yet or which might not have been correctly exposed etc. My bet would be on not being downloaded yet.
