I have an Iphone now, I recently purchased a new sim card and proceeded to cut the sim card down to micro size, I phoned cell C and did the necessary sim swap, however when I insert the sim card into the phone it is not recognised. What am I doing wrong?

by cut down you mean snapped it out along the perforations.. you can't just cut an normal sized sim card.

Sure you can. There are templates available as well as cutting devices.

Phone CellC customer care and ask them if the SIM swop to the new SIM has gone through. If not, ask them to get it done.

SIM cards are quite hardy, I once broke one in half (on the metal plated side) put it into my old Nokia and was still able to make and receive calls. I doubt your SIM is broken or damaged, do you have the parts you cut off that you could test the SIM in a different phone?

I cut my sim card using a stapler type looking sim card cutter I bought off the internet.
When I insert it into the Iphone it continually searches for the network. I even switched the phone off and tried again.
However when insert the sim card into my old Nokia the card works.
Very strange, I guess it has nothing to do with the sim card and everything to do with the Iphone.

You should stick to what you know best (i.e. pulling wire) ! ! !

I think you should watch your attitude because you will not find your stay on mybb a pleasant one.

By the way, with a reply like that, it makes me think you have yet to reach the allowed age on these forums.

There was an issue with older simcards with the newer phones (something about registers on the card)?

Of course, it could be an issue. SIM memory can be corrupt, but essential (basic data which old phones require) still available.
Secondly SIM's low voltage electrical interface can be damaged due to static electricity, but still working when 5V is applied (which older phones do).

Quickest option is to just get a new card....

It could be that the SIM is just too old to work with an iPhone.

switch off LTE (Settings>General>Mobile Data) - if your SIM is not provisioned for LTE or you operator does not provide LTE then it will just keep searching or say "No Service"
