Cybergames

Ok

I'm convinced. I choose not to download and/or buy pirated software as from now on forth. I am not interested in defending my own selfish desires anymore, which I think is a pathetic justification for this act.

Thanks

especially if you buy stuff from somebody who makes a heck of a profit on them! this guy should be rolling in the dough since he has very little overheads and expenses to sell his 'product'

console games have a standard price across the board in all places coz SONY says so...

Someone else is setting the console prices in SA ....[Ster Kinekor for one], defintiely not Sony [they just set the global price]. The standard and accepted price for ANY "latest" game [both console and pc] is $50. Go look at any online store. $50 = R6.5 = R325 . Interestingly this is what PC games are going for in SA, but not consoles..the price difference is either in who distributes the games in SA OR the Taxation difference between "PC Software" and "DVD/Entertainment" [when it's imported] ...and we are worried about Telkom only ?

PC Games = Priced correctly [some even cheaper]
Console Games = At least 30% overpriced.

PS : It has been rumoured that the PS3/Xbox 360 games will go for $60 . [So game prices will rise in general] , but whats the chances of it selling at that price here? [$60 = R390 which is STILL cheaper than console games in SA]

Even this does not convince me. To me it's all about the choices I've made, and am going to make. I cannot influence 'fat cats' or 'cybergames' into seeing my point of view. My conviction resides in my freedom not to choose this path, and that promises far greater rewards than I could possibly achieve otherwise.

PS diablolus. It's not far fetched too see PS3 games being priced at about R650 . I recall some PS2 games being priced over R600 at retaillers.

Proudly South African means bending over whenever making a purchase.

i never steal anyone's dvd's or cd's like with a car

also if i could pirate a car i would lol cause we are so ripped off in this country

well games are cheap in other countries and you cant say a game in the US for 45$ is the same here because you making a conversion not a comparison if that makes sense

your earning dollars so 45 $ is not as much to the average joe as 300 is to the avergae south african its alot less if that makes sense.

look at microsoft they had so much money they had to give billions away to their share holders, they couldnt make windows cheaper so they wouldnt have a qazillion dollers

and rectron dont only sell aopen any more

they sell gigabyte as well and liteon which are both really good

and that computer for 3000 is either stolen or underquoted because i cant even get it that cheap direct

If you buy that pc for 3000 you get 4 games from cybergames cause the games and pc come from the same place....Criminals are us ;). All I say about the whole piracy thing is. If you feel bad about pirating then don't buy the games from CG. And it doesn't help comparing prices for Unreal T 2004 between cybergames and take 2 cose its an old game. I am looking for quake 4. CG the game is the standard R149 including delivery. So I don't have to leave my house to get it. Take 2 it is R350. I can get the game at the flea market for R100 but that means I got to drive there. I would also download it but that takes 2.5 gigs off my cap. Piracy is not the same as stealing, cose there is not the chance that someone might die when the thief gets caught during the act of breaking into a house or stealing a car. I would never steal a pc. If a good game comes out and they sell 1 million copies, the 5 or 10 thousand pirated copies out there isn't going to harm the developers or the fat cats pcokets to much

good luck playing online with that quake4 :) erm, not that quake4 is worth online play :P

I think buying from them is wrong. I work for a software company and I know piracy is hurting my salary. So please spare us the dribble about fat cats etc. used to justify piracy. Theft is theft.

Even if you do not think it is wrong to buy from them, at least remember this: They get busted regularly by BSA etc, so if you buy from them, then next time they are busted, your address will be on BSA's records. :-)

(I bought from them once long ago, before I knew they were pirates and I was looking for a game I could not get anywhere else in SA. The quality was crap, it was clearly a pirate copy and the game crashed after I played it for a couple of weeks, so I could never finish it. A big waste of time and money. I will certainly never ever ever buy from them again.)

Now imagine you could buy legit games for this price.
The piracy industry would collapse

Are you serious...get a life...piracy is stealing plain and simple.

To your really weak analogy...i.e. if nobody will die when committing a crime then doing the crime is ok? Let's explore this..someone hacks into your bank account, cleans you out...he/she is not guilty of a crime??? I think not.

Don't try and justify pirating anything...it's wrong.
