Cyberpunk 2077

You are welcome to point out his lies, strange that he haven't been sued? This is an investigative journalist who fights for the consumer, but fanbois and 'alt accounts' keep on fighting him.
IMO, the problem with Schrier is not that he lies, but that he's prone to exaggeration and that he has overt political leanings that influence his objectivity.

Once he reports on something that is well received he desperately wants to continue to be "that guy" in the industry and has often gotten things a bit wrong, e.g. by labelling any form of "crunch" as bad after exposing the actually dodgy practices at Naughty Dog.

Going Anthem route FAST.

Interesting times ahead, CDPR needs to pull a rabbit within short time. Last week Friday,

Current report no. 4/2021

January 15, 2021

Subject: Receipt of notification concerning the filing of a class action lawsuit in the USA

Legal basis: Art. 17 item 1 of the Market Abuse Regulation – inside information

The Management Board of CD PROJEKT S.A. with a registered office in Warsaw (hereinafter referred to as “the Company”) hereby announces that it received confirmation from a law firm cooperating with the Company that a second civil class action lawsuit had been filed in the United States District Court for the Central District of California by a law firm acting on behalf of a group of holders of securities traded in the USA under the ticker symbols “OTGLY” and “OTGLF” and based on Company shares. The content of the claim, including its subject and scope, is the same as the one disclosed by the Company in Current Report 68/2020 of 25 December 2020.

The complaint does not specify the quantity of damages sought.

The Company will undertake vigorous action to defend itself against any such claims.

it is two now, with another two prospective class action lawsuits in the making. Generally, I believe these are investor groups who want answers. Neither complaint stated the damages they sought hence I believe there is a motive to launch an investigation. I don't know the particulars, neither do I understand these laws in any detail.

I believe it is mainly due to Sony's actions which have upset many with a stake in CDPR which have now resulted in doubt and uncertainty. Sony also removed any and all related Cyberpunk 2077 material attached to their name...

You know as they say, 'n haastige drol verbrand sy hol. Not only have CDPR 'misled' their investors and their consumers, but also their distribution partners. Misled (and deceived) being used loosely here as only a court may ultimately decide. I wonder whether CDPR took it under consideration to postpone the title until ready or perhaps they announced pre order to early which may have caused ripples?

This is one example I dislike about Schreier. Him hammering on crunch, but as you said he is prone to exaggerate (which results in a sensationalised snowball). Yes, he does have political leanings, but this is the common trend with media as they themselves become the propagators whilst stigmatising state-owned media and the like, all media have their ideals and ideas. It is easy to see why Forbes picked him up, Schreier will be right at home.

All I want is to have the consumer respected, and media has the reach to achieve this.

For sure. Media is politicized more than it ever has been with even freelance journos, not beholden to large media corporate entities, allowing their own political leanings to play a center role in their take on any subject.

It's to be expected, BUT what I cannot abide is how it often translates into favoritism in the sense that the same practices go ignored if the company in question's politics are seen to align with the journo's OR are overplayed if the company is seen to have committed past political sins (again by the journo's standards).

Whatever he's all about though. It can't be denied he has exposed a few prominent issues that impact devs and consumers alike that will hopefully be dealt with.

Maybe I'm getting old but after the initial wowzer at graphics/ambience of the game I just lost interest and the mechanics of the game seemed like too much effort so stopped playing.

CYBERPUNK 2077 PERFORMANCE ISSUES: 'IT'S UNFAIR TO THROW STONES'

Newell said he had played through the most anticipated and hyped game of 2020 — CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 — on PC, and that the performance issues the game experienced on console versions were something many game developers grapple with.

"I have a lot of sympathy with a situation that every game developer finds themselves in," he said.
"All I know is that there are a lot of very happy gamers in the PC space, which are the ones that are most visible to us.

"There are aspects of the game that are just brilliant, and it shows a tremendous amount of work — it's unfair to throw stones at any other developer, because just getting something as complex and ambitious as that out the door is pretty amazing."

Speaking about Sony's decision to pull Cyberpunk 2077 from the Playstation Store, and offer refunds to those unhappy with its performance on the platform, Newell said while Steam was not party to those conversations, he did think it was an "unusual" move.

"People get mad because they care," Newell said.

He said he sometimes receives abusive emails about Valve games, and that responding in kind would be pointless when the best course of action is to learn from the situation.

"When people have those kinds of reactions, my first thought is that this is an opportunity for us,
and I assume that the Cyberpunk 2077 developers are similarly just using it to crank through an make improvements that are going to be beneficial to their customers.

"They have a long history of doing a great job, of continuing to invest in their products over time and I suspect that they're going to be very good at making their customers happy over time.

"Everybody knows that if you're in this business, expectations are high, and if you do it well people are going to let you know and if you failed to meet those expectations they're are going to let you know — that's part of why it's a fun industry."

Somebody is schooled in consumer behaviour, but do the seller care about their customer? I think GabeN appropriately responded to this questioning considering their merchant agreement with CDPR.

Nonetheless, good to see positivity.

I was hoping to see AMD Adrenalin 2021 drop this month with their own upscaling implementation to accommodate CP2077. They do, however, now support Quake II RTX with their latest release driver, but it was already supported in the beta driver. Vulkan Ray Tracing should also work on GCN GPUs, but it will be very limited like with Quake II RTX, but I doubt AMD will unlock it on older gen GPUs. Anyway, I was hoping to see some AMD innovation to upscale CP2077 like Nvidia does with DLSS, but this will likely be limited to RDNA2 due to executive reasons.

I was expecting a patch today. Marcin Iwinski did say the next patch would be within 10days and that was on 13Jan, so maybe tomorrow...

It seems like they went from the frying pan into the fire. People are reporting the game crashing at startup, losing their save game, running worse than before etc...
I wonder why they called this patch 1.1? It is the biggest patch since launch, but it is a bug and stability patch only.

Apparently the Delamain quest line is still broken which some players are experiencing and I see those complaining about losing their save games now are really mad.
