Cyberpunk 2077

Nah it was this pitiful weeb quoting all his japcrap, even elevating it above the universally acclaimed Mass Effect trilogy.

He was enlightened and the rest of us are "normies".

The irony was someone with the mind of child obsessed with Japanese culture, calling everyone else youngsters...
Ah, thank you. Apologies for the mis-identification then @Hellhound105

Fans and journalists were wowed by Cyberpunk 2077’s ambition and scale. What they didn’t know was that the demo was almost entirely fake. CD Projekt hadn’t yet finalized and coded the underlying gameplay systems, which is why so many features, such as car ambushes, were missing from the final product. Developers said they felt like the demo was a waste of months that should have gone toward making the game.

Ouch!

There is a dev elaborating on Schreiner's article,

This bit, too. I've worked on multiple AAA projects where the team grew too fast to make a too-ambitious game (BioShock Infinite and Mafia III). Both projects were disasters, hellish for the team. The path we're on isn't sustainable. Shorter, more focused games please.

Are shorter games really the solution? This has been called upon many times by devs and critics. Imagine a 'short' Baldur's Gate 3. What is meant by short? Though CP2077 is a 'big' game, it is rather short. I know people have run into hours by the hundreds, but the game in total is no more than 80-90hrs unless you as a player wishes to extend the playtime by adventuring in the game world. I mean, Wasteland 3, is a 100hrs+ title, and though not technically advanced as CP2077 it is a rather long game and was doable and also bug-ridden at launch, and still is, but nowhere close in scope as CP2077, but it cannot be a shorter game otherwise it loses substance.

People will have a heart attack when they hear that The Witcher 4 will be a 60hrs game.

In my opinion, do lower the expectation by not promoting what cannot be delivered. Play by the genre, don't promote an RPG as it is inherently a long game time genre, push action-adventures instead. Just wait until RPGs are pushed as episodic adventures, $69 per AAA episode

Yeah, I'm not going to be putting much stock in what this fella's opinions are. Clearly an agenda driven individual.

Having said that companies like CDPR need to find their limits. Conceivably, using the GTA comparison above, what can your team actually achieve within a reasonable timeframe? Deliver that. Don't overpromise. Don't overstretch.

Cyberpunk 2077: CD Projekt Red Responds to Report About Fake E3 Demo and Development Issues

...

"It's hard for a trade show game demo not to be a test of vision or vertical slice two years before the game ships, but that doesn't mean it's fake," Badowski wrote. "Compare the demo with the game. Look at the Dumdum scene or car chase, or the many other things. What the people reading your article may not know is that games are not made in a linear fashion and start looking like the final product only a few months before launch. If you look at that demo now, it's different yes, but that's what the 'work in progress' watermark is for. Our final game looks and plays way better than what that demo ever was.

"As for 'missing' features, that's part of the creation process. Features come and go as we see if they work or not. Also, car ambushes exist in the final game almost verbatim to what we showed in the demo. And if we get a bit more granular about our release, the vision we presented in this demo evolved into something that got multiple 9/10s and 10/10s on PC from many renown gaming outlets in the world. As for the old-gen consoles, yes that is another case, but we've owned up to that and are working super hard to eliminate bugs (on PC, too - we know that's not a perfect version either) and we are proud of Cyberpunk 2077 as a game and artistic vision. This all is not what I'd call disastrous."

Badowski then responded to the claim that many Cyberpunk 2077 developers knew the game would not be ready for release in 2020.

"You've talked with 20 people, some being ex employees, only 1 of whom is not anonymous," Badowski said. "I wouldn't call that 'most' of the over 500-people staff openly said what you claim."

Lastly, Badowski addressed the claim that Polish-speaking employees would speak Polish in front of non-Polish staffers, which "violated company rules" and made them feel "ostracized."

"Everyone here speaks English during meetings, every company-wide email and announcement is in English - all that is mandatory," Badowski explained. "Rule of thumb is to switch to English when there's a person not speaking a given language in a casual conversation. It is, however, pretty normal for Germans speaking German, Poles speaking Polish, Spaniards speaking Spanish etc. (there are 44 nationalities at the studio, you get the point) when there's no one else around. We are working in a multicultural environment. If the question is if it's hard to move to another country, sometimes culture, and work and live there, then the answer is yes. But that's universal to every company all over the world, and we're doing what we can to ease that transition."

Schreier responded to Badowski's message, saying that "CD Projekt chose not to respond to specific questions or make Badowski available for our article, so it's interesting to see these comments arriving now."

He also mentioned that he does regret bringing up the language issue, as it has gotten a "disproportionate amount of attention and is not a particularly big deal," but also notes that Badowski did not address the "brutal crunch and the unrealistic timeline."

Badowksi's response is here,

the comments are worth a read.

PS: This is CDPR!

From my view, it wasn't only the E3 demo. Yesterday I went through CDPR's socials, and they punted things in pre order status which didn't make the cut. A pre order is a sales agreement. I was suspecting the good reviews to be leveraged in order to debunk 'criticism'. I know there are many who like the game, but this is about consumerism and not whether you like it or not.

I like the game enough to keep consuming it thanks.

And no, Shrier plays on emotion and half truths, he is hated for making things up.

Did you at least purchase the game?
I did, and played through it twice, I'm not saying its everything that they promised but is at least on par with current open world triple a titles. This witch hunt is blown out of proportion.

4 more days to release a new patch, Badowksi did say within 10 days, but I don't believe this will be patch #1 as it wasn't the gist I got. More small patches to address particular issues and then patch #1 will drop.

And people still rush them and push then to bring patches as quick as possible.

Gamers can be just as stupid as the developers it seems.

If anything has been learned so far, it is give them time to do stuff properly. It's too late to try fix the game "quickly".

All these patches are hot patches, and they still need to properly remedy the save game issue. They need to push patches otherwise nobody will be play testing their patch rollouts. For anyone who want to play the game in a better state I would wait until late March or June/July, but the best experience will be once every DLC is released. It is in any case the PS4/XBONE which is prioritised at this time.
