I just called Cybersmart because I WAS interested in using them for my service provider, I asked them if they use IS or SAIX and the guy rudely and abruptly said, "Not your business, that info is not for public comsumption", Then he said "what do you want to know for" , "why do you want to know" I couldnt believe my ears!!!!!. I told him he was rude and that my first impressions of the company are not good. He just kepped quiet , he didnt reply. I said I was thinking of moving over to them until he spoke to me like that and he still kept quiet. Customer service at that place obviuosly SUCKS!!!!! They can go and get stuffed!!!!

its obvious that they are making way too much money and have millions of customers, So they dont need our business........ "sarcasim"

Why couldnt he answer my question ? Are they hiding something that we dont know about?

actually it might be better of if you dont go with them. Read their terms and conditions and you will see why

7. Why do you want me to cancel my ADSL subscription with my other ISP?

A large number of support calls are originating from users who are using us as a secondary ISP. They can't remember how to configure their router to put in our ADSL account, or their email does not work when they use our ADSL account or the accelerator product of their primary ISP is causing our account not to work optimally. All these support calls are as a result of some configuration or program used by another ISP. Invariably these problems take substantially longer to fix, with the net effect that it increases our support cost. It is not fair to expect customers that are loyal to our brand to receive the same service as customers who are not. We will degrade your service should we find that you are using another ISP so that we can give better service to our loyal customers.

This cant be legal ,,,, Surely????

with such a clause, who knows what they are up to ;\ for all we know, they have an illegal cat5 cable running into the sat3 link ;P

Putting it in perspective

Hi guys,

I have been a very happy customer of cybersmart for a long time. In their defense (although I agree that the conversation as you put it there was not right) they are the cheapest by far and they have good reasons for their conditions. In fact, they have a great and very transparent section on their site where they explain the reasons behind some of their conditions.

Like any business - if you want to be the cheapest you will have to streamline your business and keep costs low. That's what they seem to be doing. From a service point of view however I have never yet had bad service from them. All it takes is a phonecall and you immediately deal with competent staff instead of going through 6 layes of support staff.

Just my 10 cents' worth.

hmm, are you not maybe the guy he spoke to :p

I have a problem because I use WebAfrica Unshaped for World of Warcraft.

No I do not work for Cybersmart

Gee you guys are a suspicious bunch.

I do not work for Cybersmart. I have posted before - but not often. You may find me under different usernames - generally mlungu1, 2 or 3. I am in the terrible habit of forgetting passwords and have set up new ones a few times. In fact - before someone picks up on that - I am sure that I have once before recommended cybersmart to someone. No doubt that will convince some people that I am the guy or that I work for them.

I merely felt the need to point out that it's not all bad and that 1 bad experience - still unacceptable but it happens - does not mean that nothing is right.

Cheers

I've used cybersmart before also and the service works great, but yeah their telephonic skills are not the greatest, they have a bit of a holier than thou attitude to customers

dunno about that, i went to visit them once and they seemed normal :)

Hehe. No worries man, i believe u.

I must say, when I read about all their 'special conditions' on their site, it scared me off too.
Furthermore, forget the rude attitude of the guy on the phone, but why would they not give out info like which network they are on? This is something every user should actually need!
It is people that use these guys that give the SA consumer such a bad name.

I'd reccomend eject (www.eject.co.za) they a division of fujitsu siemens and dont treat you like a fool when you email them or phone them.

Equally good if not a bit better there is GamCo (www.gamco.co.za) also very good support.

I judge a ISP by their support and speed, both of those of which have never let me down.

Geez, I'd love to know your secret. Normally I have to perform serious aural solicitation to get to level two. There's another 4 layers??

This game I have yet to master. :p
