Cybersmart Weekender Cancellation

HAHA! =D ... I used to live with my brother so we shared the cost. Our total cost was $30 p/m. and we got speeds up to 70mbps because we have the standard enhanced fibre optic cable. You can get cheaper lines like the crappy 12mbps at $15.99(Uncapped Unshaped) but we chose the Ultimate edition where you can receive speeds up to 100mbps. Our area was crappy so we only got 70mbps max. Oh and we had Uncapped - Unshaped.

LOL! =D Yeah wish there were 12mbps here in SA. I am going to New York for a 2 month holiday on Saturday and I cannot wait to use the 70mbps bad boy again >=)
 
It's sad, the cheap stuff there is the stuff we dream about here;-)

Although, with the world cup we will be getting one of those dedicated line thingamajobies at a client who is hosting Italy, so will have access to True 8meg line...Gonna be an awesome month!
 
Goodbye Cybersmart, I will be getting uncapped/unshaped from Wazzup from 6 rand a month more .. no more queuing my downloads on the weekend or in nightrider time .. for 5 years I paid you on time every time .. through 4 meg and 384 ... and just like that .. its all over ... PS .. my 5 friend and family account will be joining me too .. expect a mail about them in the week or so .. have a great day

I checked wazzup and it says their uncapped account is R305 a month?

Oh I hear you- yeah that better nightrider definitely isn't worth it for 5 bucks... im just waiting for eASSY to bring the prices down further,then ill join you
 
Well seeing as Cybersmart don't want me to download too much anymore, I decided that while weekender is still active, I'd make the best of it. SO this weekend I left my downloads to run and the end result is quite nice. I managed to download and upload 11.2GB of stuff. This on a 512kb line.

I think a nice big UP Y**RS is in order for Cybersmart...

flip my adsl went down fri evening and came back on monday morning- hows that for unlucky

*** There were some users where were abusing the weekender service, those users have had their weekender service discontinued. Weekender
will remain for other users like yourself that are using weekender within normal usage levels

Thus, most (some?) users' Weekender packages will still remain Weekender packages. Not everyone are losing their Weekender accounts.

yeah thats right, but as for the alleged abuse by some users, thats just his way of distracting everyone from the fact that they screwed up in the way they advertised Weekender, got everyone to sign up to cybersmart instead of mweb when adsl uncapped was launched, only to run out of bandwidth and now crying foul because users believed what was advertised. cybersmart goes on and on about "fair usage policy", but when you ask for specifics, you get nothing. laurie needs to stop pointing the finger at its users and take a good look in the mirror, because that is where the real problem lies.

I switched over (for now) to the Nightrider basic.

Now on the front page it advertises it as:
Night Rider Basic 2 Gigs 12:30am to 7am


But when I log in to the ADSL usage page this is what I get

Used this month outside NightRider time (8am-00:59am) -0.1
0.5 Gigs used in NightRider time (1am-7:59am).


This is no biggy, but if the internal system itself is confused as to what the rules and timeslots are AND nothing gets communicated then I am not surprised that users feel in the dark.

The marketing page and the reality page doesn't line up properly...

I really like the technology in Cybersmart and the packages, but boy, the communication skills are non existent.

That's the normal in/out of nightrider times .... i don't think they can change the wording for that per user ..... eg.
Someone with normal capped account & nightrider addon will have those times ..... if they change the wording to 12:30 - 07:00 ... it will look wrong for that customer ...

i think they just kept the wording like it originally was for the usage tab ... it still works correctly from 12:30 - 07:00 for everyone on the special package
