Cybersmart...:(

People,

Also have a look at the packet loss you are experiencing, very bad. Run something like Visual Route and check the packet loss at each hop along the network. Last time I checked it was scary

Agreed, I've stated this in previous posts too which is why I'm prepared to be tolerant of the issues at hand and suggest fellow Cybersmart users to do the same...
Cybersmart been very stable lately with good throughput and 400kBps plus download speeds... Decision to remain with them has been vindicated. Are other Cybersmart users feeling the love too?:p:D

Since the end of the weekend, the service has been better than usual and I am proud to say that I am happy about this and staying a Cybersmart subscriber.

This is my second month with Cybersmart, and I'm one of those people that will always email (but never call) customer support. It takes a while, but queries are resolved, so I can't say I'm upset there.

DSL is a patchy proposition in SA regardless of your ISP - ultimately, Telkom's the one screwing up on some level. Luckily for me, I probably live fairly close to the exchange - I frequently get 380kbps out of a 384kpbs line.

Nightrider is serious value for money. What makes it better is that their default "oneprice" accounts are all unshaped bandwidth - which means that after-hours torrenting is fast and cheap. Probably as fast and cheap as it gets.

Their TOS aren't all that bad either - most of it's just an Idiot User Prevention Mechanism. "Using your @cybersmart address" simply equates into plugging it into any email client software, and forgetting about it. "Don't use other ISPs" is just for people who don't know how to configure routers - I happily used an Axxess prepaid account for a day before switching back to Cybersmart, and guess what? I'm still here!

My only gripe at this point is Skype, but that's another rant altogether. It's poorly designed software to begin with :(

So yeah, so far, I'm happy. Now if only I can train myself to _not_ use 16GB of international prime-time cap in one month :/

The knightrider option is fantastic & they seem to have resolved all their bandwith issues, more reliable than mweb!!!

Well done cybersmart

Yup...stability has definitely increased a lot.

Just a pity i'm still wating for my line to be converted after applying on the 19th of Feb already.
