This month I've used 6.13gb in Nightrider time which counts as 1.23gb towards my over all cap. All those down loads have been off rapidshare...
South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.
Quite right. So do you think it excludes local?Well you said you were downloading from RapidShare which AFAIK is an international site?
For any service related issues regarding Cybersmart may I suggest you email the MD Laurie Fialkov on [email protected]. She encourages this sort of feedback and she is very helpful...
My bad, I assumed Laurie was female...Good grief... when I met Laurie, he was a man!
Hey Laurie, I know you're gonna read this... tell us about the operation, bwahaha![]()
If I am using capextender does Night Rider apply to my local cap?
No. If you are on capextender and are on your local cap and you download 5Gigs during Night Rider Time then 5 Gigs will count towards your local cap. If you are on your international cap and you download 5Gigs in Night Rider Time, only 1 Gig will count towards you international cap
And if you not using Capextender?
And if you not using Capextender?![]()
Correct, I'm also not using the CapExtender. I use Nightrider and Capsaver...I'm not on CapExtender so it just goes towards my cap (divided by 5 during Nightrider time).
I would imagine to download a 65gb file from Rapidshare, I'd need to buy roughly five 3gb Top-Ups.
Correct, I'm also not using the CapExtender. I use Nightrider and Capsaver...
It won't. The files are 400 x 160mb so I down load about 90 a month between 1am-7.59am using Orbit download manager (scheduled between 1.30am-4am). I do about 20 files a week although I been topping up quite a bit...So how is Capsaver going to aid you in downloading the 65gb file?![]()
Correct, I'm also not using the CapExtender. I use Nightrider and Capsaver...
Been having horrible latencies (2000ms-3000ms + chain disconnects) recently when connecting to world of warcraft gaming server in europe with my cybersmart account. I'm positive this is a problem on cybersmart's side, because if I log into a friend's telkom account from my home, my latency is a stable 500ms-800ms, depending on time of day. Also, the telkom account results in no disconnects. I've spoken to technical support and all that they tell me is I must send in emails with my complaints and that they don't really believe the problem is on their side. I've just written email #2, after 6 days of no reply to email #1. I'm slowly counting down to canceling my cybersmart account and recommending to all others to never use this ISP. I refuse to pay for internet that is unusable and put up with slow and unproductive customer service. just my 2 cents...
I will give the Axxess route a try or perhaps just "rent" my brother's iBurst from him until the SeaCom messiah finally arrives.
Thanks for the info...
Axxess uses SAIX and you can see this with traceroutes so it's the same as having an account with Telkom (which I hate to support). Nice thing is you can get a prepaid voucher at any Engen or Pick 'n Pay, no accounts, don't loose your bandwidth at the end of the month.
Oh wow this is horrible, makes no sense as to why they are doing this. Out of interest sake I actually went out to test this, as I do have access to a box in Europe.Your issue is easily explained. I've been having problems with euro sites as well lately, heavy latency.
Cybesmart is routing all their international traffic through their partners in the USA. So what is happening is all your traffic essentially goes to europe (default cable route), hops over the atlantic to the usa and then back over the atlantic again to europe. You don't need a ccie to tell you this is fubar. Cybersmart makes no mention of this move on their part and tech support is dumb or just plays dumb. Only a direct question to higher up about their routing lead to the response I was looking for.
They currently have no direct routing into europe. This will only be rectified in April according to them when the Seacom cable comes online.
This has been the situation since December. I recall previously your traffic hopped onto the saix gateway and left saix in london I think to get to europe.
You can verify this for yourself by doing a simple traceroute command or alternatively use a gui util like VisualRoute which will plot the route on a geographical map for you.
Anyone noticed slower speeds when gaming on SAIX? I'm pretty sure my latency has almost doubled recently? Anyone care to comment?
I'm gonna buy myself an axxess prepaid account to test with?
Wondering which ISP I'm moving to next?
