D3 Demon Hunters Conclave

I think a team of DH could do nicely in GRifts. Need 1 to stun the mobs while others do the damage. Not sure if stunning loses effectiveness the higher you go in GRifts though.

I think 3 DHs and a monk. I've found that if the monk can suck all the mobs in to the same location whilst having 15 sentries fire on them with CA and MS, is pretty effective. pew pew!

Can probably get away with 4 DH and one wearing the amulet that pulls mobs to the target.
Monk's are great in support play though :D

Wd with nado. It sucks mobs in, immobilises and increases damage taken.

More toughness did the trick for me. Only died twice last night in my whole session and that is without awareness.

So having played with the stun build a few things.

Using the Wyrdward ring, the thundergod belt, kridershot and a few +lightning items.

Not all lightning/stun effects are proc-ed by the sentries for example:
Sentries proc stun via: Cluster arrow+grenades, Sentry bolts, elemental arrow bolts
Sentries dont proc stun via: Multishot lightning, elemental arrow ball lightning, also dont proc the vaxo amulet helpers

So its a question of finding the skills that actually proc stun effects. But with all the possible stun effects working in unison, i can have a rift guardian stunned for more than 50% of the fight. Its a bit more of a challenge with fast elites running around. Need to do some more testing

Anything that requires procs to work (the Wyrdward ring, Vaxo etc) won't work from the sentries but with selfcast attacks. Sentries have a 0% proc rate, so won't do any "on hit" events or proc special effects from other items (for the most part).

I switched up to a cold(ish) build on my sentries. I have no idea whether it is the right cold setup to go for. But dmg is great. Cold MS and cold CA, using the trapped leg gem and enforcer gem. With cull the weak, archery, steady aim etc.... Lots of hidden dmg happening.

Also slower running things is great.

The cold CA seems a little weaker on the single target because the grenades are replaced by 5 rockets that only target other mobs, not the one you are shooting. So you lose the grenade portion of the dmg. But with cull the weak adding 20%, it does pretty well I think. Anyone else doing a cold build? What setup do you have?

I dropped engineering because 4 sentries seems to be enough to deal with most things.

I am also slowly moving over to a cold build. You are welcome to have a look at my profile below. Just keep in mind that Custom Engineering also makes your sentries last 100% longer.

Not true, i tested each skill and posted what i saw

I might try switching to cold arrow for EA. See how that does. I am not using a hatred generator either way, so overriding my sentry auto with a stronger cold based attack is probably a good idea.
I was running vault and smoke screen together for extra survivability.

The longer lasting sentries dont really make much of a difference for me either. They last 30 seconds, I have a 5 second cd on them. so I get 4 up in 20 seconds. That leaves 10 seconds to simply run about and refresh sentries as required. So provided my sentry uptime is still 100% per sentry. The customer engineering node needs to give me a vast dps increase after the 5th one is up, for me to want to use it.

A 5th sentry is a 25% dps increase. Over just 4. But that only applies once it is up. The alternative, like Steady aim, gives you a 20% dps increase permanently (Good positioning required, but easy) This applies to the first 4 sentries and first 20 seconds of combat. As most fights other than the rift boss, are over in under that amount of time. I feel that the 5th sentry is a waste.

It also means that the rare occasion when I have spare hatred and clear ground to fire, I have 20% more dmg per shot.

The situation might be different in a 4 man T6, I dont know. I am only running through T5 or so at the moment, because I dont quite have the overall gear to take on T6 comfortably. But solo I am finding that it is quite rare to have 5 turrets all in one position with mobs still alive to shoot at.

Finally got a better RoRG out of a T6 bounty bag. Rolled a socket on it and now I am happy with my ring situation.

Don't know what's not true. Your testing just confirms what I've said.

You said: "Sentries have a 0% proc rate"

And i said. Not true, there are quite a few stun effects that proc from sentries.

You misunderstand what I'm saying. Sentries have a 0% proc rate for effects from items. It will proc skill effects.
From sentries:
CA Dazzling Arrow - will work
EA Lightning Bolts - will work
Ball lightning + Wyrdward - won't work
Windforce + sentries - won't proc knockback
Dazzling Arrow + Vaxo - won't proc clones
etc.
