DA locks down Nelson Mandela Bay with multi-party coalition

No I don't like that suddenly everyone thinks we are a 1st world country because of what happened in the municipal elections. ANC control the national government with more twice as many than votes as the nearest party even in the last municipal elections. We are still a 3rd world country, nothing is going to change that. Just look at our 0% GDP.

Give us one example of this. I have not read or seen anything from anyone regarding this. Unless, of course this is your own opinion? If thats the case then you can't apply that logic to your argument.

What the actual fek does that have to do with the rules of council being enforced properly?
You are saying the council requires attendance on time. It doesn't. The ANC councilors will arrive late or not at all and disrupt meetings with objections. They can't get fired as their party send them there. There are no rules. There are no consequence. You are discriminating against everyone who voted ANC as they don't have a voice anymore since the ANC has a policy of not firing sleeping or absent councilors or parliament members.

I don't recall anyone telling the voice of the ANC voters to leave the meeting.

DA wins Mogale City

Hahaahaha. Love that EFF beret on the mayor....haha.

ANC got 48.84% of the vote in Mogale City so only needed 1 vote from one of the other parties. All opposition voted for the DA mayoral candidate...hahaha.
Awesome, love it! Everyone talking about Tshwane and Jhb, that they pulled Krugersdorp out of nowhere...

Just look at how people celebrate.

They act like they just won the World Cup.

The reality is the burning is going to start.

So now you're a mind reader too?
Those people are happy because Mogale City have a new mayor. That is worth celebrating - they are not dancing because they now think they're in a 1st world country.

Unless you have it in writing where someone thinks we're now or going to be a 1st world country due to the LGE, you should stop spouting that BS as the basis of your argument.

The discussion is around them not being there when it started at 10:00. Them leaving before it was finished was their choice.

It does, there are rules.

They can't get fired, but they can be removed from the council chambers for disruption.

I am not discriminating against anyone, only you seem to be making that connection.

That's when the meeting started - why weren't they there ?

This Africa time thing is just bull - school kids stroll in an hour late, rallies start two hours late, councillors paid by the taxpayer arrive late - no wonder the country is in such a mess.

I didn't mention disruptions. You are the one drawing connections.

I just had a thought.

Athol Trollip was elected unopposed.
The only vote taken just before that was on whether there should be an executive mayor - which is the vote that that moron was arguing about?
Surely the ANC should ALSO have nominated someone, as then there would have to be a secret ballot vote to choose between them?
At least then they had a chance ... you lose all races you don't enter by default!

You didn't mention disruptions? Really?

Maybe I should go back and relearn my own language then.

You are correct. If there had been another nomination then there would have be a further voting process to elect the executive mayor.

So it seems the ANC being in opposition is beyond them, they don't know how to work within the system...

That means, even if all the opposition had resolved NOT to support Trollip, he'd still be mayor.

Yes you should. Must I quote the 10 posts that I posted where I mentioned time. Even in the quote you posted you I clearly said "You are saying the council requires attendance on time." the ANC has a policy of not firing sleeping or absent councilors or parliament members. The whole discussion is around time. You are jumping on a post in which I mentioned the word "disruption" because you lost the argument of there not being consequence for not arriving on time
