I don't really agree though, I think the capitalist economic system promotes both corruption and greed, I don't think these things are endemic to people generally

Strange that in Africa the grab and hold onto the capitalist system goes viral with the accompanying aforementioned massive endemic corruption added and Africa history tells a completely different story altogether. Sure it's prevalent everywhere in the world just not as prevalent and widespread and to the massive scale as in Africa. Our own government and Zuma king is witness to that fact so is the most of the ministers, public officers in government and municipalities. Proof of that is the big difference between DA and ANC controlled areas ;)

There are just as much if not more corruption in non capitalist systems like Communism et al. Where there is money flowing there will be corruption depending who is in charge of handling that money. Now add communist tendencies with capitalist systems in the formula and what do you get??? Africa and African rulers. Where there is no accountability and no systems in place to counteract and penalise fraud and corruption just like here in South Africa, Zuma's kingdom, you will get what we witness everyday....a massive scale of fraud, corruption and lack of accountability.

HAHA! Well yes, this is the information I was hoping to extract. Because as we all know, there's no corruption involved at all in that system. :rolleyes:

Well said. But I do not think some sad sacks will see and acknowledge that little truth. As Zuma said there is not reason why a MP may not have his own company represented in government's financial circles and tender for government "projects"!

Well yes, there are many idealistic solutions - if you want to do away with politics all together that would be a solution. Doing away with business all together would also solve the problem of political corruption but neither of these is possible and while both exist in a society and economy that is driven by the goal of maximizing profit (i.e. modern capitalism) you will get corruption. Even without government, do you honestly believe there would be no inter-business shady deals and backroom dealings to flout the law and make some money?
